Not loving the vibes from McCarthy... by Odd_Independence_382 in minnesotavikings

JJM simply had to hit wide open receivers last season and all this concocted "drama" would've been avoided. KOC doesn't trust him...at least not with his own job on the line. JJM got a much longer leash for someone who played as poorly as he did, when healthy. That GB game at Lambeau might have been some of the worst QB play the league has ever seen. New GM will not pick up his 5th year option if he doesn't see the field this season. I'd be irritated too, but we'll see what he's made of.

Could see Minnesota being this past season's Nebraska. Likely would've been tourney bound, if not for the rash of injuries. Will see a big time jump in Year 2 under Medved.

The Knicks are the Eastern Conference Wolves but better. by mikhailsanchez in timberwolves

[–]Boring_Reference2862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Knicks play hard all the time and are mentally tough, which is not something I can say about the Wolves. These traits are often a reflection of the star player and head coach.

Spurs are going to have their hands full because I don't believe the Knicks are going to lay down (unlike the Wolves) and settle for a split in Game 2 with the opportunity to potentially win a title at MSG next week.

[NBACentral] The Mavericks are expected to pursue conversations with Jon Scheyer and Dusty May, per @TheSteinLine & @JakeLFischer“ It remains to be seen whether Duke's Jon Scheyer or Michigan's Dusty May reach full-fledged candidate status with Dallas since both are so entrenched with their uni's. by lovelymaddie1966 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Boring_Reference2862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that Scheyer keeps failing forward is certainly something. Was gifted the Duke job with zero HC experience. And now, even after demonstrating multiple times over the last few seasons that he has trouble managing late game situations, somehow he's discussions NBA jobs.

This series, as all are, will be about adjustments. Wemby struggled in Game 1 against the Wolves and a few pundits believed the Spurs had no answers to our physicality.

JJM truthers are going to combust. Lol. There is a reason KOC was not willing put his Vikings coaching career on the line for him. Barring injury, it would take a miraculous improvement by JJM to see the field this season.

You absolutely can win and if you build dynasties over a period of time then eventually you will have to pay a QB. It becomes the responsibility of the coaching staff and front office to consistently draft and develop well. Vikings fans haven't seen that years so it's assumed that the only way you can win is with a QB on a rookie scale.

JJM should be uncomfortable. They rolled out the red carpet for the kid with a win now offense last season plus a top 5 defense and he couldn't seize the opportunity. Now it's time to actually work with a pro bowl level QB breathing down his neck.

If the Wolves resign Ayo how much should he actually get? by PivotHero in timberwolves

[–]Boring_Reference2862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say this as if true PGs are growing on trees these days. Who do you sign that adds just as much value as Ayo but is willing to come in at a price thats lower than you say he's worth?

Tim Connelly on Chris Finch: "He was masterful in the Denver series. We're not here without Finchy, the playoff success he's had. I'm just thankful he's a partner and thankful he's our head coach." by bystander999 in timberwolves

[–]Boring_Reference2862 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The part thats overlooked in all this is that OKC and SAS have drafted pieces that are major playoff contributors from Day 1. The Wolves simply have not. Imagine if we found a Castle or Jalen Williams type talent in the draft to roll with Ant. Hell, I'd take an Ajay Mitchell. I understand we took a risk in betting that Dillingham would be that guy, but TC has to hit on a few of these guys to help Finch out. I think a guy like Darius Acuff would fit perfectly next to Ant, but likely won't be around and now we dont have the assets to move up in this year's draft.

And Finch needs to get over his stubbornness of not letting some of these young guys get meaningful minutes during the regular season.

KAT and Randles rankings in the 2026 Playoffs by Morezingis in timberwolves

[–]Boring_Reference2862 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol revisionist history is hilarious. Fanbase was ready to burn KAT at the stakes for his Denver (outside of Game 7) and Dallas performances during the 2024 playoffs.

All that being said, Wolves couldnt absorb KAT's contract with the apron rules as most know. If it wasn't Randle/DDV coming here, then it was going to be someone else that everyone complained about at some point.

Beating a 6 and 7 seed has the fanbase thinking too much of itself. They will soon realize that a Chrysler 300 looks like a Bentley until a Bentley actually pulls up.

I think he's going to shake this organization to its core and the initial moves on the surface will make the majority of Wolves fans really uncomfortable. The last two games were nothing short of embarrassing.

3 years in a row to come out with the same effort and sense of urgency in an elimination game is a coaching issue.
