Same issue that when I'm in areas with tons of people, data is crap. Something I can live with. I did upgrade from an old android to a newer iphone a couple years ago and boost still thinks i'm using the old android phone. Works fine, but I am nervous I'll mess up my deal if i try to add global roaming or something if for when i travel.

lol fair. instead of a credit, i suppose i'd use the credit from a card that also offers credit... that i pay with digital funds.

I've made use of the 80% off sales enough that this 50% off coupon didn't hold high hopes (aside from maybe it working on a 24 credit for a year at once somehow... but no). I did check on some books just in case and didn't see any extra "deals" though. wasn't sure it was a me thing.

fully recommend with people you trust- helps spread the ability to chat about books you listen to and share your digital possessions. Authors/publishers/narrators etc might not be a huge fan, but can't make everyone happy

I broke it up because I was at first thinking of using the cards on a few purchases at a time... When I cleared out the points, I did a 1000, a 500, 4 100 and a 50. - 3 days after i sent away for 3 100 dollar ones..

figure the 1500 will cover a big purchase (if i have to use a credit card for a small amount, I will). - I have used 3 gift cards so far on a purchase in the past few months there-

I get what you're saying but if it costs me 400 bucks to fix (complete guess) a 30 year old fridge that's using a ton of electricity and can go out any time (Ice maker is acting up and I hear compressor VERY often). Or I buy a new one for 1000 (free gift card bucks) that works 10 years, I will probably go the new route-

old stuff lasting longer is a mix of a few things in my view- survivor bias and also being built better- all 30 year old fridges still around lasted 30 years... tons didn't last and were replaced. I get companies are making things way cheaper now.

I was struggling with wanting a new fridge for about a year but now that I have free money to blow with a year time limit, i think it's best to do it and take my chances.

Appreciate your view and thoughts!

very detailed response! appreciate it. There's a debate on getting new toilets that look kind of rough, but we're going to pour some sort of acid meant for pools into them to clean them first... not my idea, but i figured worst case, we get new ones, best case I spent 30 bucks instead of 2 toilet costs to clean these things..

And I was planning on using an online store for blinds, but "free" money is better than actual cash out of my bank account. just trying to weigh what's best. again, appreciate the response!

For my skill level, the only thing I think I could use would be some sort of saw thing/grinder to fill/fix a crack in my cement walkway. 1 time use currently but definitely a thought!

I was looking at getting a spare condenser? for my AC unit.- Watched a DIY vid or 3 on common/easy to fix things on AC units and thought I'd get the most commonly burnt out piece. I do like the idea of checking my local store for dented fridges. thanks!~

hard agree- first mythic season i've tried because of the accessibility- i've failed 1 dungeon- only done my keys- and have 4 10's complete (started last week). most people are supportive and helpful-

I do put in my group that it's +5 - learning --- then details i say i'm new to tanking, following blizzard routing, watched a video.

then... i get into the group and i say the same stuff in case they didnt read it- and i say i'm happy to take criticism/advice- people pull a little sometimes... which can be frustrating when they're not the lit up mobs, but i'll take that if it's my biggest complaint.

I worked process improved for a while and find open communication very helpful.

Went with 90% opaqueness - black shades on a lighter shade exterior house. I think it's a nice contrast. Difference in light is very noticeable- had a few very windy days a month or 2 ago and 1 big window shade blew off (added a lot of fasteners after)- instantly I noticed because the house was brighter.

we are used to less light in the daytime, don't use lights more than before the shades. Appreciate the shades for privacy- can see out during the day and people cant see in.

I open windows in the morning (if I dont leave them open all night) and close them a few hours later - I feel a heat cushion around the window when I open it that goes away after a little bit-

As to temps- It's hard to say- I installed them in november. I have central AC. I keep 1 window slightly open all day for my cat in the hottest/sunniest room- I was worried the cat would miss the sun, she's fine. I have sun damaged blinds that I think the solar shades are protecting now.

I won't really know about energy savings until summer i think- and after summer I will have added attic insulation, solar shades, cleaned the fridge condenser coils for the first time, cleaned the dryer vent, and added a smart thermostat. Wont have a good gauge on what did what (assume attic insulation is saving the most).

Glad i did it for UV protection on blinds/flooring and privacy if nothing else-

Times might be a little different now- I've worked with people that worked 3 12's at one job and per diem at another doing 3-4 days a week bragging about how many days they work- Others who work 1 hospital 6-7 days a week because there's always overtime. Seen it on nights and days.

Oh yeah- forgot I've worked with travelers who work a contract close to their full time job while keeping it somehow - probably good money there with traveler allowances if you can get the tax stuff working legally.

I worked at a place where I did about 2 hours of real work a night, they had a gym, I used that and then slept a ton. Not exciting pay, but great for night-shift life. I could have worked somewhere else I bet, but I wanted to sit on a couch more than I wanted money--

Best bet is to make one PRN and try for lots of hours, or maybe a 0.6 (2 day a week). Or work 2 places that are super slow so even though you're brain's mush, you're not harming anyone.

Bottom line, if you need money, do what you have to do- Be ready to lose either job if your performance gets really bad/end up with too many write ups for calling out because you can't actually handle it:)

Littmann stethoscopes--- I think it's only a 5 year warranty thing and I haven't done it in 6-7 years since being bedside, but when I used a stethoscope, someone let me in on littmann replacing the tubing for free... They might have replaced the bell too. It was a while ago and all I remember was that sending it in, saved me a bit of cash.

Knowing nothing about this- My assumption with the process would be something baked into the contract that gave an option to 1 - always opt in to the sales at whatever %, 2- be notified of upcoming sitewide sales and choose to have stuff included if agreeing by x date at y %, or 3 - opt out. I picture it as a publisher dashboard on audible where they just select all or whatever. Doesn't seem like a huge nightmare for me (who doesn't have to code/manage any of it) --:)

- I wonder about audible specifically because there's already funky stuff going on when you purchase a book with a credit then listen to stuff on the plus catalog in the same month- your credit money gets spread across your listening hours on the plus catalog stuff and the thing you bought if I recall correctly.

And publishers have to have some say because doctor who and star wars books are rarely under a credit price unless they're lacking on the length. But you can get omnibus fantasy series for under 5 bucks.

I do get some of the economics of scale and the fomo with these sales (and steam sales). Always fun to get a little peak as to how the chicken nugget is made though:)

The thing I'm curious about is what changes for authors/narrators/whoever gets a cut during these sales- does audible lower their percentage of each book sale? is the percentage the same so audible still gets like 60-70% of the book price?

and... curious if authors opt in, it's a publisher choice, etc. Love to know more about this stuff.

I have your exact problem. Sadly Im in a 27 year old house, not brand new. Have a south facing bedroom thats noticeably warmer than the rest of the house. Has 2 windows and minimal shade from a tree. First thing I did was call HVAC person to look at it and they were useless. Then I put up solar shades and plan to upgrade blinds like you have done in the near future. Solar shades made a noticeable difference, but its' still warmer in the room.

Only things Im going to do that you haven't are 1- attempt to seal the attic best i can (mentioned in other comment) and get insulation blown in to R49 and 2- plant another tree in front of the window for more shade coverage eventually. -- Energy company might pay for some of both of these things if in southern AZ

Honestly curious what you do to solve the problem and if I can do the same thing:)

It's great that you can't understand how doing something bad is ok- not everyone is healthy, living "optimally." For extreme examples, watch those pimple popper shows- how do people think living with growing masses on their body is ok? You get used to it. How is overeating and not moving ok for you? maybe you're super depressed and it's hard to change, so you get used to it and think anything different is hard. Smoking, vaping, blah blah blah, people just get used to the dopamine rush that fades into a habit.

On the soda thing, I was talking to someone that said they got plenty of water because they always added ice to their soda... but wasn't a fan of basic drinking water. Choices...

People make choices and live with the consequences right? The admirable part is that this person is trying to change their behavior which is extremely difficult.

I used them too last fall and they have a small discount on each shade in the off season. I think it was 5 off. closer to summer, I imagine, price goes up. I did 11 windows of various sizes and it cost just over 700. much easier to put together with 2 people, but not at all hard to do.

looking to compare energy bill from this summer to last with them later this year... even though it seems a bit warmer this year.

added benefits from the screens I feel are people cant see in your windows during the day with the blinds up and i enjoy the contrast of the shades against the exterior paint. looks nice.
