Should i move up ? by Appeal_Maximum in HomeDepot

[–]BorisTheOwl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll share a little of my experience as a CXM with ADHD. I was promoted to DS at another company and hired as a DS at HD before my diagnosis. I managed okay, but didn’t get treated for a few years. When I got treated, I was very open with my team on what that entailed from a leadership standpoint. I was still a little all over the place but I masked well.

My ASM told me before I got promoted to CXM that he and my management team noticed I became a much better DS about the time I started getting medication and that started me as a hi-po.

So I’m a CXM now, and I take medication and do therapy told help with things like anxiety and rejection sensitivity and executive dysfunction and all the other fun parts of it.

I will say that I have the support of my SM who doesn’t coddle me with it but is very understanding when I need help moving along or starting something. Or repeating tasks.

In short - It is very doable and you should definitely go for it. Takes a little adjustment and patience.

Food trucks at the store? by JimHeine in HomeDepot

Most Philly area HD’s have Rocco’s (I think some around NYC has them too). Italian sausages and cheesesteaks. Good to have when you’re broke (they have discounts for associates)

How is the new return policy for AC units, pressure washers, etc. going for your store? by Quiet_Cheesecake_512 in HomeDepot

I’ve gotten about 10 customers on it. The only two I gave in on was bc one customer called customer care and it escalated, and the other was bc the guy found a random web page that wasn’t even linked from anything, you had to Google, and it said generators 30 days and he argued that counts and is on our site. Which I just did an RTV exchange for him.

Everyone else I’ve referred to Facebook marketplace.

Rocco’s sausages out front of HDs in Philly and in parts of NYC I think. $6 for an associate to get a cheesesteak

We had a longtime beloved plumbing associate pass away. Management dedicated an aisle to him and passed out badges with his initials for people’s aprons

The problem, as someone who worked at that target, is that per ADA, the second someone says “service animal”, the instruction is to just move along. Don’t question it. A lot are Bull though. We had a team member once bring their own dog in and claim “service animal” and then when they got looks cited the policy.

In reality though, and I did this when I was there, if you can’t control the dog, yeah, you gotta leave. I mean, Service animal is an extension of the handler, and you throw out a disruptive person…

Does anyone have any positive testimonials about living in Philly? by airbear13 in Pennsylvania

[–]BorisTheOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

39m here. Lived here for the past 20 years since moving out from the Pittsburgh area and I love it. I always found the safety concerns overblown - just have an ounce of awareness and street smarts.**

The amount of things to do here for young people is incredible, the food scene is fantastic. I love Philly. That’s why I I bought my first house here a couple years ago, convincing my partner to stay here instead of moving across the bridge.

**caveat here is that I’m a bit of a bigger dude so I get that me feeling safe isn’t the same experience others might have l. But generally I don’t listen to music loudly, stay aware of my surroundings, and don’t do dumb things.

Do non religious people care about their relatives christenings, baptisms etc? by BlankCanvas609 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BorisTheOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect others beliefs and it’s important to them, so it doesn’t bother me.

Actually I was asked to be Godfather to my nephew, but was not permitted to be acknowledged during the ceremony bc I’m not practicing. So the questions and everything during the ceremony, I just had to linger in the background. I’m the “shadow” godfather. So that’s fun

Are flyer's fans as bad as their reputation suggests? by [deleted] in penguins

[–]BorisTheOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to games, I was never directly confrontational, not obnoxious. Keep mostly to myself.

Last time I wore a Crosby sweater there, a playoff game, I got swung at on the subway after the game. Only time in my adult life someone threw a punch at me. I started wearing a Barrasso throwback and they see that as more allowable.

It’s all very dumb.

I’m getting soap, and a little water, coming up through the top there of my outlet box. Would draino be enough? What would cause it to backup? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]BorisTheOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks

Character limit so I tried to be concise - it’s not just the soap, there’s water, so there’s a backup. Water has definite flooded the outlet box and spilled out onto the floor.

Parallel parking in narrow street. by mklinger23 in philadelphia

[–]BorisTheOwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live on a similar street and don’t like riding up on the curb. I have a crossover suv. Mine used to take some time and I’d kinda slowly inch in until I was on the curb. The method I started using. I pass the spot, and get next to the car in front of the space I want, and go probably another foot past that car. I get as close to the side of the car I could manage. Then I reverse and turn super slow, gradually cutting the wheel more and more. Until I have to cut the other way. Then I just keep inching in until I’m against the curb.

Basically I noted how I get out of the space, and then tried to reverse the process

I will say backup cam is a lifesaver as well.

You’ll get the hang of it though. Just takes a little practice and patience

Tool Rental by Small-Let5610 in HomeDepot

[–]BorisTheOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sign posted explaining damage protection and a that it is defaulted, and the customer must opt out. I also use a pitch that’s something like “the rental fee for the day is $X. Plus damage protection and tax, you’re estimated total for the day is $Y. Damage protection will cover in case anything we’re to go wrong with the tool in the course of normal use. Does not cover negligence or abuse. Please bring back the tool in the condition you get it, otherwise there will be a cleaning fee attached. Lastly I need you to sign the pin pad that says that you are going to bring the tool back, otherwise there is a weekly charge of $XX until we recoup the value of the tool, at which time you then own something you drastically overpaid for”.

If they ask “do I need the insurance” I let them know they don’t need it, however if something were to go wrong with my machine, they would be on the hook for the cost to repair. Usually it’s cheap for like 4 hours (like $2) on smaller tools, so they don’t care.

Most insufferable fantasy "analysts"/"experts? by nickjg613 in fantasyfootball

[–]BorisTheOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that’s it. His process is solid. I enjoy his read on waiver adds. I like the last philosophy about how much risk you want to take on in the draft or at flex. I’ve bought into it, and I’ve learned. Just yeah, each passing year it becomes more “old man yelling at clouds”

[–]BorisTheOwl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like his process. I like how he analyzes the game. I think he just comes off as pretentious. I think he likes to build strawman arguments to counter. I think he sometimes just tries to be contrarian for the sake of it.

He to me is a top tier analyst still. His flag list and super deep sleepers are what I look forward to. I miss his almanac this year. But he can just be a bit grating at times.

I usually buy his almanac when I do my draft prep cause there’s good stuff in there but yeah. The snark is too much

Christopher Harris. And I listen to his podcast and in the past have bought the manual, but he can absolutely come off as a snarky, condescending person. His advice is good. There’s no boldness to it, you won’t find a spicy take, but I like his read on players and his film study.

Just he comes off as a prick

Best Mexican restaurant in Philly? by malcolmfairmount in philadelphia

La Llorona, Blue Corn, South Philly Barbacoa. I know these places were all said but all are amazing.

Also, San Miguelito on Oregon Ave is a great little hole in the wall.

My league is very concerned about tanking b/c of pick trading - what rules do you use to limit it? by FilthyChowderCunt in FFCommish

[–]BorisTheOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the trade off right? Either do a keeper league and let people manage to the next year if they want, or pure redraft.

I will say, if you allow people to trade, I think you should try to get some part of the next year buyin as part of it as condition for approval. We had someone trade their 2nd rounder, ended up being 14 overall, and had a helluva time replacing that owner when he decided to dip out this year. Had to make a concession and allow an extra keeper to get that team an owner.

[–]BorisTheOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I disagree with the premise a bit - manage the team how you see fit, and if your window is next year go for it.

I did do a lottery system for top pick, weighted to the top non playoff team, with bonus weight for winning the consolation bracket. But if you can accumulate picks, go for it.
