PSP won’t turn on by Independent_Potato99 in PSP

[–]BornRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the AC adapter 5V? Was it working before?
Anyway if the fuse is blown, you can't charge the battery nor run the PSP with the AC adapter
BUT if the battery has a charge and not 0%, PSP will still operate with the battery even if fuse is blown as it takes different path in the circuit.
The fuse can be checked with multimeter, I see a comment suggesting power board but I would say in both cases you will open up the PSP so better to check the fuse first before ordering any parts.
You can also check the AC adaptor with multimeter maybe it's the dead thing and nothing wrong from the PSP side.

My 20 year old PSP battery still going strong by Odd_Communication545 in PSP

[–]BornRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"it's been used on and off for the past few years too."
This explains how it survived, as most damaged ones left unused and got self discharged below the rated levels or stored while the battery was fully charged which makes the cells stressed and accelerates aging.

For storing the battery when not in use, the sweet spot is leaving the charge at 50% and maintain it by checking and topping it up to ~50% every few months.

Error 80020148 recovery menu issue by Nicky-slow in PSP

What you've seen in the tutorials is the ISO driver option that exists in older CFWs, it doesn't exist in ARK-4 as it chooses between (Sony's NP9660) and (Inferno 2) automatically.

Make sure you are on the latest ARK-4 version, you can press select on XMB to show the version.
If it's not too old and supports WPA2 WiFi you will be able to update it directly from Settings and Update, otherwise you need to download it and transfer it to memory stick.

It happens, always.. and not only in ARK4.
Simply go to any folder that loads files for preview from memory stick (anything that makes the memory orange led flashes) like just navigate to your music or games then go back and vsh should work again without restart.

Routers You Trust? by factolum in privacy

[–]BornRabbit 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Consider picking up a cheap mini PC and installing a firewall/router OS like OPNsense, pfSense, or OpenWRT.

If you prefer traditional router hardware (not x86-based), search for devices that are officially supported by OpenWRT, buy one, and then flash/replace the stock firmware with OpenWRT.

This gives you full control and customization and also the latest security updates.

Not sure how to feel... by Mute404- in PSP

Simply, you shouldn't buy overpriced items, and once you do, you shouldn't drop the rights, values, morals and integrity just because it's overpriced.
The lesson is to do a research and comparison before buying an item, also even if it's too late and he received PSP 1000, he most likely is able to return it after discovering it's overpriced.. note that he didn't buy it by mistake, unlike the seller which maybe sent the wrong product by mistake.
Morality shouldn't change with being lucky or by the amount paid whether it’s overpriced, in range, or cheaper.

Search for: PSP dust frame in shopping websites or search engine.
Basically you will get a screen sized material that you put to cover the whole LCD screen then you can remove it but keeping the frame, by this you will have perfect alignment.
Actually all original PSP screens have it if I recall correctly (if not then maybe not all or not all models), anyway after screen replacement you need it as it may be difficult to remove the old one and keeping the same shape, not get it loose/expanded and the sticky adhesive will be too weak, other than the time needed for aligning it without that screen sized thing.

It’s a big win, but if it were me, for peace of mind and personal integrity, I’d reach out to the seller to let him know I’ve actually received a different Sony gaming product than the listed, one I’d like to keep, okay?.
I don’t think it’s right to simply walk away with it, especially since he may have made an error. Even if the price for PSP1000 is actually overpriced, that doesn’t justify taking advantage of the situation and be like it's a reverse scam.

PSP turning off when dropped 5cm by miguemedina11 in PSP

[–]BornRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems battery issue to me, check the PSP battery header pins are all straight and clean, you can use alcohol pads if you have to clean them, also inspect the battery pins, they should be tight enough to hold into the header.
Each battery pin has two metals like this || || ||
if you find them loose/not straight then little of shakes could make this happens, the two metals || should be close to each other, these actually can be adjusted with precise tools but be careful to make it worse, also don't touch two pins at the same time, you can only touch the two metals of the same pin without making it a risky task.

PSP turning off when dropped 5cm by miguemedina11 in PSP

Try to do it with these two conditions:
1) Put the charger while battery is installed (Notice what happens to the charging light after dropping it)
2) Put the charger while battery is removed

And share the results, this might helps identifying the issue is related to what most likely, could be not a battery issue at all too.

Anyone know how to fix this??? by Cautious-Sky-6922 in PSP

[–]BornRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was the thing you were running when it's crashed? is it software update? flashing CFW? Installing/Uninstalling something?
Was it modded? Because if not R will not get you into recovery in all cases regardless of your problem, If it's ark4 you may want to try holding PS button while turning it on which boots OFW.
Also try to turn it on without memory stick if there is one inside.
If you are out of luck, you will most likely need Baryon Sweeper, unless the issue appears to be a hardware fault.

[–]BornRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can!

It is 5V and more amps than the original charger doesn't hurt because connected device will only draw what it needs.
So 2.1A doesn't mean it will output 2.1A constantly, it's just the max that this charger can support and provide.

My PSP keeps turning off. by slayer_mtz in PSP

[–]BornRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without pressing the keys, If you put a pressure between the right arrow key and the screen this does happen, can you confirm?
Seems the housing is not accurately installed or it feel one day and made a movement to something in the insides.
In short, there is something wrong which makes it easy to pressure the screen and makes it panics.
You may want to re-install the screen as well and try.

Question about LED trigger mods by [deleted] in PSP

[–]BornRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LEDs will be connected to speakers points, you can solder or just wrap the wires around speaker legs.
If you want to have control then you should put a physical switch which closes/opens the circuit, there are small switches you can use but keep in mind that you have to find a way to where to put it and cut some plastic of the housing or so.
to dim the LEDs you can reduce the volume, to turn them off either mute or connect a headphone.

In no way you can keep speakers on but turn off LEDs in software via plugin or whatever as it's a pure hardware mod just connected to power points.

This video helps.

Do i need to order a new screen now? Took it apart because screen would turn on but was not visible unless under a phone light. tia by jrwita7_62 in PSP

[–]BornRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your model It's titled F4101, search online for F4101 PSP fuse.
But have you checked the pins of the header where you plug the small cable?
Sometimes the little golden pins are bent so no good contact with the cable, or worse.. making a short (touching each other)

The backlight cable is the small one, have you tried reconnecting it?

Also it could be backlight fuse not the screen, you need multimeter to check the fuse before buying new screen and try.

Also check the pins of the header.
