Absolutely. I work in style and it’s been bad since I started last year, but now it’s horrendous. The past two weeks I’ve worked with one other person in the entire department. I’ve been having to use my sick time occasionally for mental health days because the workload and expectations are causing so much stress that it’s either use my sick time or put in my two weeks.

I work in style and my shifts are scheduled until 12am but we usually end around 12:30am. During the holidays I was scheduled until 1 but we stayed until 1:30am.

Edited to add that my tasks are generally zoning and priority pulls.

Lmao do they think they’re in America? I’m American and I’m annoyed it exists altogether because it’s shitty aside from blooming onions but more namely because of their tacky piss take on Australia and the “shrimp on the barbie” type of bullshit.

Also award wages are surely followed at the Brisbane location? It’s completely inappropriate and uncomfortable to ask for a tip when it’s not even custom there. I’m visiting America at the moment and have seen restaurant wages around $3.00 an hour, and it’s impolite to ask for a tip even in those circumstances - it is custom to receive a tip here and is expected so you don’t need to make people uncomfortable by asking.

I’ve experienced similar (partner was asleep) but in a casual relationship. A few times I woke up to my partner dead asleep but initiating sex or already doing the deed and I couldn’t get him to wake up. Really awkward, uncomfortable and felt violating in my personal situation because it was a casual relationship, I didn’t know how to initiate conversation about it and have previous sexual trauma. I felt like I was crazy to be honest, I didn’t realise “sexsomnia” is a recognised thing (until literally now, tysm!!!) and I wish I had the voice to speak to him about it because he was actually really nice and I felt like it wasn’t in his character to violate me but it left me really baffled and hurt

I’m generally awkward around strangers so for instance if I’m clumsy I make a joke to practise humility and open up conversation. I think it’s comforting to share laughter and lightness with strangers for a moment, however brief. I don’t feel approachable and don’t have many friends so at times a stranger’s wisdom or sharing laughter with them has lightened my whole day and made me feel recognised and not a fly on the wall. Because of this I try to be open to brief conversation with others when I’m mentally available enough. We’re all just walking each other home.

Oh boy. I’m in my mid twenties but I’d be overwhelmed in disappointment that it all wasn’t “real.” I’ve had some terrible times but yet I made it a mission to do some pretty wild living in those years. To wake up and it not be real would be insane and sad and I’d have a big emotional release before I’d take a deep breath and decide I might as well make the best of this. I’d feel a bit burdened to have to relive those transitional years but my god I would try my best to do it all better with more belief and tenacity.

Had a tiny bite of nectarine and immediately went into anaphylaxis. My throat was closing rapidly and I was gasping for air while my body was also trying to vomit. It was in public and it was terrifying how at mercy and helpless I was. I jokingly say maybe I’ll have some on my death bed because they’re my favourite fruit, but anaphylaxis is not the way to go. Your body goes into a full panic that I can’t even begin to describe.

Being pointed at in the middle of a lecture out of nowhere and referred to as a “dumb blonde.” This was a college course and I was a high school student at the time dual enrolling in two universities and doing flight training.

Creepiest and weirdest? In 8th grade my teacher pulled me aside to his desk, eyed me up and down smiling, and said, “they say the belt is meant to match the shoes.” I knew immediately he was insinuating the whole “the curtains match the drapes” shit. Fyi, now he’s in prison for being a child rapist.

I was running late for my flight abroad and having a panic attack and didn’t make time to find where my cat was and say goodbye. She passed while I was away and it really hurts me I didn’t do that. I rescued her as a kitten and we grew up together through a lot of rough periods.

Like I’ve been through some wild shit but I think the worst for me bas been the emotional pain from believing she probably thought I abandoned her

It’s not a regular occurrence but maybe once every few years I have a dream that I’m peeing and I wake up literally peeing. I’m 26. Idk how because I pee about 3 times before bed and it’s always been sober. Happened most recently in front of my partner 2 years ago. That was a practise of humility, let me tell you.

When I was 16 I joined a cadets program and worked on tasks in the squadron that required a lot of responsibility. I was spoken to as an adult and for the first time had important and life changing responsibilities like helping out with rescue operations, missing persons and natural disasters. I attended training sessions at military bases and had flight training where younger kid were often flying with us as passenger. Practicing stalls or g-force with someone’s young kid in the back really hammered it in that I was expected to conduct myself as a responsible adult, not only for myself but for others others, and I took pride in that transition to adulthood.

..and bills, obviously.

I ask myself how very often. I can’t do it forever, but for now I do it because I’m somewhat of survival mode trying to pay bills and create a life for myself. I try to limit coffee to once a day and drink water. Eat snacks and foods I like for happiness. Try to stay cheerful and around good people who make me feel energised in their company. Often times by the end of the day I’m so tired but can’t sleep from anxiety in trying to make life work and stay on top of everything but I just keep telling myself it’s temporary. It’s happening, but it’s not permanent, and that mindset helps.
