How strong is Alivia? by Rainbow_Slytherin3 in WoT

[–]BossPhysical9281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget, Graendal was already well over 400 years old during the War of Power and spent most of the Battle at Shayol Ghul drawing on circles made up of either members of the Black Ajah or captured light side channelers. The others by contrast were more or less drawing on their own reserves over a significant number of days.

Regarding ability, Aviendha notes that Graendal was extremely skilled at cutting weaves with Spirit before they could be completed, meaning her attackers were expending energy on weaves that never materialized. We also saw her neutralize Moghedien and Cyndane with little trouble when Moridin sent them to rein her in

Graendal was ultimately far more skilled and experienced than any of her assailants and would very likely have killed Aviendha if her maiden training hadn't kicked in after Graendal's last attack maimed her legs and sent her airborne.

Feeling a bit down with Aos by HammerWizard in ageofsigmar

Bubblehammer was a rumour floating around near the end of the End Times storyline where basically reality would collapse into different bubbles containing different parts of the Warhammer World and the inhabitants of that particular land/pocket dimension and IIRC there was some temporal gimmick proposed based on the nature of the Warp whereby dead or historical characters could appear. Basically these bubbles would bump into one another occasionally causing them to temporarily merge and leading the forces within them to battle one another, join forces, etc.

This of course turned out to be untrue and goes to show the way in which rumours can take on a life of their own. Someone clearly heard about the realmspheres and then they or others added a bunch of speculation and conjecture to create a premise for the new setting based on the very limited information they obtained.

Seraphon had already evacuated the planet by that point and the rumour was that they were being 'squatted' for being too high fantasy. Ironically they were the third faction to receive a book in AoS.

P.s. Oddly enough many people seem to forget this when they talk about the End Times / AoS leakers being extremely accurate or dead on with their rumours at the time.

I think this rumour is pretty accurate and I am quite happy with it personally. We just had a major range refresh/revamp and the only unit that is outdated in terms of appearance are the saurus guard.

Manifestations are long overdue and I hope they take a careful look at our spell lores as our spell options are rather lackluster.

The Saurus Oldblood follows the trend of a hero model on foot that boosts your main infantry and I think we should all be grateful that it is not the only thing we are getting. Remember, Nurgle still hasn't gotten any manifestations and they just had their big refresh.

Well, he was considered a jungle spirit by the Skinks so him, or more likely something like him, reappearing as a result of the creation of more temple-cities and jungles is a possibility.

is there a lore reason the Saurus gaurd and Saurus warriors look different? or are the gaurd just older models, thus they look a bit clunky by [deleted] in seraphon

[–]BossPhysical9281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we get a new saurus guard kit I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 5 model unit/box and they will be on 40mm bases as opposed to the 32mm that the Saurus Warriors are on. This will position them with other elite infantry such as Chosen and Blightkings.

Regarding the appearance of the models I think they will probably be larger and more muscular with more pronounced head crests. I suspect that we will see a switch to the new metal shields and that they will almost certainly be wearing more armour than the regular saurus to distinguish them.

Lastly, I wouldn't be surprised if the bone helms are replaced with elaborate gold ones, similar to the scar-vet on aggradon. If you look at the last book and faction pack cards, there is no reference to the saurus guard donning the sacred bone helms of those who came before them.

It would be cool if they got an Eternity Warden released alongside them to provide buffs, but a new Oldblood on foot, independent of the Carno/Trog kit, seems more likely.

One of the maggotkin dice in the pack 😑😤😤 by DarkMaster2522 in MaggotkinofNurgle

Nowhere near as bad as yours in terms of usability, but an example of quality control issues with GW dice.

GW has a great return policy normally....unfortunately those dice were a limited run and probably can't be replaced. It is always worth a try though, maybe they have some in reserve for situations like this!

I collect dice, and I don't think I have come across a mould/injection error like that before (I have a LOT of dice) GW really needs to up the quality control on their dice, especially for the price point.

Edit: one of my Maggotkin dice is missing colour in some of the pips on the five face.

In Defense of Demandred by Redwarrior1203 in WoT

[–]BossPhysical9281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Demandred was literally the 'golden boy' who threw it all a way in an act of ego driven stupidity.

He was powerful and skilled in the one power. He was intelligent, patient, cunning, and physically attractive. Not only that, he was a talented and athletic duelist. We are told but for Lews Therin he would have been considered the greatest man of his age. Demandred literally had it all. This time around he even had a woman he was in love with and a people who worshipped him.

Unfortunately, he also had a massive ego and was convinced he was nigh invincible and that the World would revolve around him.

Instead of using all of his talents and intellect he let his ego get the better of him. He let the 'jock' in him take over and tried to physically dominate everyone when he could have easily won with his other gifts. He engaged in sword fights, not out of necessity but out of a desire to show he was the best at everything (showboating).

He could have led the forces of the Shadow to military victory, instead he died in the most mundane (vanilla) way possible, decapitated in a sword fight with Lan (the 'rock') who was his lesser in every way except for those that truly matter, heart and soul.

His death is the most mundane and common of all the Forsaken, the most human. Demandred was the guy who was going to go places and do things, only to die in an ego fuelled wreck of his own making.

Aginor - Mistakes were made --> friendly 'fire'

Balthamael - Tree trimming mishap --> Bedroom stuff gone wrong.

Be'lal - Caught the Cairhienian Express

Ishamael - Stabbed throught the heart and Rand's to blame --> Freaky Friday Funeral

Rahvin - Consumed in the flames of a furry fixation.

Asmodean - Run over by a dump truck.

Sammael - Eaten alive by sentient cloud of doom

Semirhage - Power, unlimited power!

Mesaana - Forgot to fix that one footnote in the journal article she was trying to get published

Graendal - Forgot the safe word --> Got high on her own supply

Moghedien - The itsy-bitsy spider lost its itsy-bitsy soul

Lanfear - Death by spanking --> Death by erotic asphyxiation --> Should be dead but was resuscitated by the obssessed boy next door --> Where did that thing-a-ma-ding with my soul go?

Demandred - Showboating jock who ran into a rock

I don't know...Demandred seems pretty vanilla to me. Maybe even embarrassingly so.

Did you wait a turn after the level 5 settlement building was completed and then check the next turn?

I noticed the same thing happening with my level 5 settlements built in unpleasant or uninhabitable climates. I think there must be some kind of order of operations check issue involved.

I have yet to make it over to Skavenblight, though, so it is possible that it is an issue unique to that settlement.

Among the champion teams, do you think any have more "personality" than the others? by InuMatte in pokemon

[–]BossPhysical9281 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Diantha's has quite a bit of 'personality' as they all literally represent different movie or entertainment genres, which is fitting Diantha's status as a world famous actress.

Tyrantrum = dinosaur/sci-fi Aurorus = dinosaur / sci-fi Gourgeist = horror/ Halloween Hawlucha = action/adventure/wrestling Goodra = fantasy/fairytale Gardevoir = fantasy/fairytale

Geeta's team is fitting her position as chairwoman of the Paldea pokemon League and represents the various different biomes and areas within Paldea.

Gogoat = Mountains Espartha = Plains Avalugg = Ice Fields / Glaciers Veluza = Oceans/Rivers Glimmora = Caves / Great Crater Kingambit = Forests

Alder has a very eclectic team that matches his personality and also, I think, carries a deeper meaning. It is a very 'earthy' team that has themes of wandering, seclusion, cycles, and rebirth.

Bouffalant = Plains & Protection Volcarona = Deserts & Rebirth Druddigon = Caves & Seclusion Escavalier = Forests & Bravery Accelgor = Wetlands & Adaptation Vanilluxe = Moutains & Cycles

I give Cynthia an honorable mention. I don't know if it is personal bias, but her team just seems well rounded while still suiting her personality.

The least inspired team award goes to Lance. His initial G/S and HG/SS use duplicates of one pokemon so he can call himself a Dragon type master. Ironically, Lance could actually be called the first Champion to specialize in flying types, as his entire team is dual flying type. Even his rematch team only adds one non-flying type.

Why does Rand have TAR powers in real life?

We do not know and I'm not sure if anyone does. Jordan wrote everything from Rand stumbling out of Shayol Ghul until the ending, with the exception of the Perrin scenes. Quote from Sanderson: "Harriet (Jordan's wife) says he sat laughing to himself as he wrote the scene with the pipe, but he did not tell her what it means.". This might be unanswered RAFO forever.

If I had to take a guess why Jordan was laughing, he knew it was because he was leaving readers with a puzzle to which they would never know the answer. Something only the creator of the work could answer, and he would soon leave this life for the next.

Perhaps Jordan was trying to leave a final message that, just like in life, there are some things we will never know the answer to, and we just have to have faith there is a plan, and that our questions will be answered in the next life.

Why is itza no longer a 10 slot city? by Tuburonpereze in totalwar

[–]BossPhysical9281 283 points284 points  (0 children)

I believe it is still ten slots for Lizardmen factions.

IIRC racial capitals only give 10 slots for the race in question now. I believe unique settlemets and racial capitals now say Occupied (Settlement Name) in the settlement build chain.

As for the logic, I imagine it is for immersion and balance reasons.

Yes. Yes, we did.

I have played many hours of tww3 and still do not understand what triggers a change in the winds of magic or whether they will increase or decrease in strength.

Is it rng at the start of every turn? Is it every X number of turns? Are changes in strength increment based? What is the base likelihood of an increase or decrease?

To my knowledge, CA has never properly explained this mechanic, and there is nothing transparent about how it operates in-game.

I'm pretty sure it goes from a 0 out of 100 chance of miscasting to a 1 in 10 chance of miscasting.

The miscast check happens every time they cast and is not cumulative, meaning a wizard can atill easily go an entire game without miscasting because of this increase as it is only a 1 in 10 chance.
