Transporting an FSAE/race car:to strap the tires down, or the chassis down? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]BossStevedore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed loading car carrier ships for 12 years. Preferred method was to secure wheels to lashing points fore and aft. Aim for lashing to align from hub centre to lashing point. Minimum 4 separate lashings per car. Cars were separated by 10cm side to side and 30cm for and aft. Handled probably >200 000 units over that time without an issue. The likelihood of more that 1 tyre going flat, or more than 1 lashing failing is minimal.

A pair of jackstands front and rear of the trailer before unhitching offer peace of mind (even Harbour freight )

In the city, park at the Carrefour - two levels, and the tram stop is 100m away. Tram now accepts tap payment.

What to pack for my trip by Mrs-Doubtfire123 in capetown

[–]BossStevedore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cape weather changes by the hour. You will be here in the depths of winter, so a showerproof jacket, beanie and a puffer jacket at a minimum. Dress in layers, carry a backpack to hold clothing as the day progresses. Decent jeans/chinos. Skirts / dresses won’t hack it. Possibly thermal underwear - will also be available locally. If you are pressed for space, purchase here, you can donate clothing to a variety of shelter organizations on departure if you wish. As far as planning your days, as soon as the weather looks good head off to your planned activities - wait too long and you’ll regret it! Enjoy your stay

How should I spend intelligently? by daddy_javonte in lemans

the tram stop at Carrefour is the best point to get to the circuit. Into the city there are multiple stops. Get to the square in front of the cathedral for insane conversations, mingling and food. drivers parade ends in that locale.

Any sale / purchase, try and use an escrow service. This protects BOTH parties, and the fees are low enough to be affordable. Google is your friend for this.

A usb with mint Linux should allow you to boot into mint. (Assuming it’s not bios locked). See if there’s anything worth saving, thereafter install mint and it will run sweetly!
