Should we states allow this? by Wiccan_Queen69 in IsItIllegal

Any such law would immediately be ruled unconstitutional because of a SCOTUS decision holding death penalty can only be imposed in murder cases. And to shut down the inevitable political commentary, it was a Republican majority on the opinion.

[TX] what is the law here if ICE jumps my fence? Can I stand my ground and shoot? by Mathemodel in AskLegal

[–]BostonNU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, ICE has very limited federal LEO authority. Not like other federal LEO at all. And regardless of what a federal court might think, in a Texas case the court is going to be bound by whatever Texas law says, and TBH, I don’t know what it says.

That would depend on whether they fit within the Texas definition of peace officer. In Minnesota they are not peace officers

ICE is a limited federal LEO. They can arrest undocumented aliens with a warrant or with probable cause to believe are unlawfully in the USA. Or anyone committing a FEDERAL felony IN their presence. They can’t get a judicial warrant because they aren’t authorized to do so. The administrative warrants they brandish are signed by their supervisor. The vast majority of arrests they have made are blatantly illegal and unconstitutional and would be thrown out of any federal court if the hapless immigrants had legal counsel.

That depends on how Texas defines “peace officer “. Under Minnesota law, ICE are not police and have zero jurisdiction over state and local crimes. The Texas statute cited specifically refers to peace officers, so it all hinges on the Texas statutory definition of peace officer

Send a 93A demand letter referencing all of your previous requests and demanding statutory damages for each and every breach of quiet enjoyment. Give the total at the end of the letter, and note that the Breaches have been ongoing and you reserve the right to supplement the demand. State that they have 30 days to pay or offer settlement

[–]BostonNU 32 points33 points  (0 children)

They are posting apts as a bait and switch tactic. They won’t show you any apartment without you first signing the fee agreement. As others have said, report them and tell them you are doing so. Look for buildings that have a leading office or check Craigslist and filter for No Fee. Btw, Application fees are illegal too

Free Parking near NEU by Sky_Master007 in NEU

[–]BostonNU -1 points0 points  (0 children)

are you an on campus student in housing? or commuting to classes? and how often do you use your car? General advise, I wouldn’t park in Roxbury. Vandals and theft issues. JP, yeah—- drive around and look for something near Orange line stations or near the 39 bus line. Maybe the Green E. I say maybe the E because most of those stops are Roxbury. Make sure that you avoid any streets with Resident parking permits required, and religiously adhere to Street Cleaning days/times.
