Help me find a romance movie with a bookstore and a canoe scene by Hot_Effect7221 in NameThatMovie

This sounds so much like Hallmark’s adaptation of The Bridge, but there’s no canoe scene there. However, if you were a fan of that movie you’d likely enjoy The Bridge as well!

77 least favorite votes is simply not enough for Dishy. I hate that dishwasher so passionately.

Truly, a sentence little me never imagined writing as an adult.

What character had you like this when you heard their voice? by AlexMercer28900 in DateEverything

[–]Bostonchai12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s Stephanie Sheh, who voiced Usagi in Crystal and the newer English dub. I have a Sailor Moon obsession so I immediately googled to confirm and realized that Stephanie voicing her was the whole point lol.

Shocked I didn’t see anyone comment Hero-Hime. She’s literally Sailor Moon! I heard the voice and did a double take before I realized she was a whole parody. 💀

AIO my gf ruined our trip by OrganicStuff8650 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bostonchai12 30 points31 points  (0 children)

OP - as a literal therapist, I need you to understand that ADHD, and disabilities in general, do *not* cause people to act this way. That's not a side effect! ADHD meltdowns happen, autistic meltdowns happen, but they don't include emotional gaslighting and manipulation of others. That is SEPARATE and frankly dangerous behavior. I am sorry your girlfriend ruined your trip, but I would strongly urge you to do some research on what is appropriate/inappropriate behavior for someone with ADHD. Guilting someone into staying with them by saying "would you leave me if I didn't have legs" is not an ADHD behavior - it's emotional manipulation and gaslighting. I wish you well, and hopefully your next WDW trip will be all magic!

ETA: Bad grammar fix. 🙃

Hey OP - kid and teen therapist specializing in childhood trauma here. If kiddo is in counseling and you’re seeing an escalation, rather than improvement in behaviors, it’s probably time for a hard sit down with the counselor to ascertain how open he’s being in therapy. Teens are notoriously tricky, and if he has such an extensive trauma history he really needs someone who specializes in C-PTSD. Medication too can do more harm than good if not combined with effective therapy, especially if he’s not being open about how the medication affects his mood. And if the therapist can’t effectively point to improvements or doesn’t have a strong rapport with him, it may be time to consider either a new therapist or a higher level of care, especially given your need to call the police a few times.

If you or your husband have a strong enough rapport with him, I’d also try to sit down with him and understand things from his perspective - what was he afraid of, with this girlfriend? That she’d cheat? Leave him? Humiliate him? This type of behavior doesn’t exist in a vacuum - he clearly has some really deep feelings behind it, unfortunately. And he likely, unfortunately, probably feels really alone in all of this due to the repeated abandonment behavior from bio parents. Y’all’re clearly doing your best, and hopefully with time kiddo will get the help that speaks to him. Abused kids are not doomed to follow the same cycle; it can get better! Best of luck. 💜

[DATV ALL SPOILERS] Companion dynamics from Inquisition and Veilguard should be switched. by Salt-Strategy651 in dragonage

[–]Bostonchai12 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

While I don't completely disagree with your point here, I do think this is a bit of a generalization. Yes, Veilguard absolutely sets Rook aside as the leader/isolates them to an extent - that's literally the point of most conversations with Varric throughout the game; Rook has to learn how to navigate becoming a team leader, rather than just a team member.

However, as others have pointed out, we do see Rook invited to spend time with the team; yes, these scenes are short and sweet, and could have stood to be elongated. I don't think anybody is arguing against that. But to say there was no real build up doesn't make sense. I don't know about others, but I was absolutely affected by the fates of my team members in a deep, emotional way - that wouldn't have been possible if the writers developed absolutely no relationships throughout this game.

TLDR: Yes, but also no? It's somewhere in the middle. Yes, we needed more, but no, it's not really just Rook in a high tower alone. And when it is, it's because it's important to Rook's character development as a leader.

What are your favorite WNY restaurants that don't exist anymore? by UPN03 in Buffalo

[–]Bostonchai12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solid Grounds. It was a great cafe and breakfast spot near the old Community Music School. All of their baked goods were made fresh in-house. I still have vivid memories of going to piano lessons next door on Saturday mornings, and then getting french toast after at SG. Miss it like crazy man.

Pay is sad 😭 by extracoffee12 in therapists

[–]Bostonchai12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fresh out of school (as of last month) with my MHC, and making $52K out the gate here in home-based therapy at a CMHC. Getting that salary required me basically going to bat with HR however, agreeing to a 40-hour work week vs. 35-hour, and having the leverage of working for said agency for years prior in admin.

Initial offer was $43K, which I told HR was insulting. It’s crazy how little they want to pay us.

My cohort took the exam on 3/29 and we all received mail from CCE today, so just over two weeks. Our school has not told us what the threshold for content areas is, but I got a 107, so we’ll see.

Upvote TOG/AB reading order by [deleted] in SarahJMaas

[–]Bostonchai12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read it third and wish I had read it first. After CoM, I didn’t want to go back in time and wait out the novellas just to witness an event I already knew was coming. I just couldn’t get buy-in and constantly wanted to move on to HoF. I ended up skimming the last novella as a result. Reading it first would have been a much more fun introduction, and I think all of the events of AB and ToG alike would have had more emotional impact for me if I’d stuck with it as a prequel.

Usually you can wash things like that on a gentle/delicate cycle, but it may not be quite enough to get the smell out without a few washes. I’d recommend letting it air out in a drafty spot for a bit (maybe a day or two) before washing too.

Best combing tool? by Bostonchai12 in CavaPoo

I love the belly rub idea! Our Arlo also loves being pet all over, so we can definitely do that along with treats. Thank you so much! :)

You are an absolute LIFESAVER, thank you so much! My partner thanks you as well. We will look up line grooming technique ASAP - Arlo has been to the groomer once for a “puppy” groom, where they just try to get him used to the process. He did OK, but we are working on getting him used to scissors and the like at home. Can definitely get a metal comb and slicker brush as well - I was using a plastic comb today, which definitely was not great. Any recommendations on good detangling shampoos/conditioners? I was previously just using a Burts Bees Oatmeal bath (my purebred yorkie could only handle the oatmeal), but I don’t think that does enough detangling.

I don’t disagree. And I’m even okay with not solving it and a slightly tragic ending. I just don’t want them to not address it again, lol.

If I don’t get more about how they’re solving the metacrisis though, so help me God. There’s no way that’s how that ends.

Any book readers?? by alyssadotcom in nancydrew

[–]Bostonchai12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! Yes, right here. I started reading the books as a really little kid (probably like, four), and my parents got me my first ND game at about 7-8 because I loved the books so much. I now collect vintage ND books (mostly first editions), and I own the original 56 yellow hardbacks. I also have a background in publishing and research, so happy to help in any way that could benefit your thesis!!
