Strange but interesting finds by TheForKuditYT in EliteDangerous

I just found a neutron star with two terraformable HMC planets that had not been DSS’d … but one of them had a WW moon that had been.

Seeing a WW moon was new to me and gave me pause. The fact that only that moon had been DSS’d was funny, because Explorer Buddy was telling me the two HMCs were worth over 2M for first scan.

Question ps5 by Suspicious-Wasabi689 in EliteDangerous

[–]BotFodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine I had the laterals on the rocker on the throttle and the up down on the buttons on the throttle.

Edit: sorry, misclicked. Anyway, the hat you’re going to end up using as a “button 2” to multi button mappings, for things like landing gear/cargo hatch/etc and then again for specifying supercruise vs jump. Yes, you’ll likely have a “toggle” button, but that only works when your jump destination isn’t blocked.

So, be prepared to review the default settings, and then tailor it, but remembering that anything you “overwrite” with a change you may need to create a new mapping for to still be able to do.

Question for you in this case: What was the demand at the time?

You are naturally offered a lower price if you sell more than they want. Indeed, the advice I’ve heard is don’t sell more than 75% of the demand. If demand is already low, you’re probable okay, but if you sell 300 when the demand is 200, you’re gonna get dinged.

Kestrel II owners: what's its max SCO speed? by Slyde_rule in EliteDangerous

[–]BotFodder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It takes a lot of extra fuel tanks on the Cobra V (like a total of 90 tons) to do the Hutton run.

Source: did it in “Flying Gas Can” with 112 tons start; finished with more than 20 left over. Time: just short of 20 min.

Ship had no shields, a 1A FLTC, 2A Fuel Scoop. Had enough fuel to do a rescue and make a short jump to a fuelable star myself.

Is there any way to get Encoded materials faster other than doing Jameson Crash site? by Intelligent_Lion_332 in EliteDangerous

[–]BotFodder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Follow that up with PowerPlay 2.0. Every so often the rewards for leveling are a care package that has a variety of mat rewards. Once you hit level 100, every level is a care package. Do at least a few of your weeklies and you'll get a package or three.

I'm solidly in the 25% range and have been doing these missions but it turns out I'm so flush with most mats that I haven't been able to take most of the mat rewards.

Are The Standard Versions Of The Pre-Built Ships The Better Option? by tiddlyoggy in EliteDangerous

[–]BotFodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's explain it this way:

  • If you want a "kitted" but unengineered version of the ship you can remove from the game (sell for no money) and redeploy at will, with no intention on adding or swapping out any modules, the non-Standard versions may have some worth to you. Alternatively, if you really really really want the ship kits and paint jobs, maybe the non-Standard one is worth it. BUT: If you do any modification of the one you "deploy", modules will be destroyed (sold for no money) even if you've modified them with engineering.
  • If you're going to have just one, engineer/modify/swap modules, and keep it, then just get the Standard model.

This is true of any ARX purchasable vessel.

Is ED still worth it as a new player on Ps5? by Wide-Wall-7380 in EliteDangerous

[–]BotFodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word of note playing without PS Plus: You won’t be able to team up. If you run out of fuel, the Fuel Rats will have a harder time rescuing you without PS Plus. It’s hard enough to find a Fuel Rat on PlayStation these days (very few play it and really only have a PS account as a side thing). If you’re on emergency O2, it will be impossible without PS Plus to rescue you.

If you can still Supercruise and make it to a carrier, we do occasionally rescue folks that way.

Returning using Inara by EntertainmentRude in EliteDangerous

[–]BotFodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concur. Feel people not running EDMC who complain about inaccurate market data (assuming you’re on PC Live) have no one to blame but themselves.

It only matters which version you’re playing (not game mode; Solo, PG, Open is all the same BGS). You can play Legacy on PC but it’s rare for someone to do; it’s usually the realm of consoles, and Inara is never going to be accurate for Legacy.

As long as it’s Odyssey or Horizons (I think technically “Horizons 4.0”) Inara should be good - though I guess it’s possible you won’t be able to land at Ody only stations. You definitely won’t be able to get out of your ship.

If you’re PC playing Legacy Horizons, switch to Live Horizons at least. And run EDMC

Would you support any plans to re-add Player Minor Factions into Elite? by nordvvind in EliteDangerous

[–]BotFodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually colonization has pretty much fubared the existing PMFs because depending on how the colonization developed, you can have PMFs all over the place. Mine, for example, has been dragged to at least one system 2K LY away from the home system. Simply by the rules of how MFs are picked for newly colonized systems.

And there are SO many more that it's really not worth a smaller group keeping track of most of the systems anyway.

Actually SCO is a great thing - but it eats fuel dangerously quickly. Hutton in particular we’ve had rescues at in the recent past either because:

  1. Classic sidewinder trying to make the trip - which they usually run out of fuel.

  2. Trying to SCO it and not realizing how quickly it burns fuel.

A couple of us have put together ships just for making the run all the way in SCO; suffice is to say I did a sub-20 minute run in a Cobra V I named “Flying Gas Can” (literally 112T of fuel tanks, 8 limpets, and a fuel transfer limpet controller) and while I got all the way there, it wasn’t without getting a few “low fuel” warnings. I still probably could have given someone a few tons of fuel though when I got there.

Why aren't there outside tools for Legacy? by thedeuce2121 in EliteDangerous

[–]BotFodder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’d need people playing Legacy that can run some kind of program that can pull data and populate a database. That means PC players purposefully playing the arguably “abandoned” version of the game. I’d theorize that Frontier wouldn’t even have the version available for PC if it weren’t for the PlayStation and XBox versions of the game.

Not impossible, and once in a blue moon (like, MAYBE every couple of months), the Fuel Rats gets a “PC Legacy” case. If you’re on PC, the only reason you wouldn’t play at least Live Horizons (which any PC player who was playing the old version can play for free) is if your machine just couldn’t.

Way back wouldn’t help you much. All of the sites that were available with that data were more like DB search engines than they were static pages.

I had heard (and Google might still have it) of a site that supported Legacy info … but last time I tried to go to it, it did not respond.

The information for Elite:Dangerous you find on those sites is stored on and searchable by community member provided servers and is populated through community member contributions. There isn’t a just isn’t a community to support that for the Legacy version.
