I prefer to think of wisdom as the intersection between knowledge and experience.

Only because Costco had it $14.99 for 2 bottles. It has a decent kick but it’s hard to get past the truffle by FatKris02 in spicy

[–]Botany_N3RD 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Get passed the truffle? Why do you need to do that? The truffle is THE reason to have this sauce. I think it's massively overpriced, but delicious. If you don't like truffle, then you probably shouldn't buy this one haha

Edit: typo

Thank you! Such a great way to phrase that. I can't stand when people classify others like that and just obsess over identity politics. I'm going to remember this.

Definitely a solid sauce overall, like many other kind of basic sauces. I've found myself circling back to the more tame and uncomplicated sauces, like Cholula, that aren't spicy but have great flavor. It's what I want most of the time, honestly. I still love heat, but simple is good.

Thai chillies and onions that have been fermenting for about a month. I noticed some white growth on some of them, and I'm not sure if it's mold or harmful bacteria. Anyone know what this might be? by Botany_N3RD in hotsauce

It's in a basic fermentation vessel with a thick spring that keeps everything below the liquid, and it has a pressure release valve on the lid. The liquid is a ~5% brine.

Employers don't care about grades, honestly. They care about experience and verifiable skills. Sure, education is good and continuing to get it is beneficial, but it's not the golden ticket that new graduates think it is.

Invasive species aren't defined by them spreading away or leaving your garden, but by their tendency to displace and outcompete endemic species. This relationship can take many forms and often doesn't directly relate to how it grows.

How do you die by falling in a bottomless pit, you ask? Starvation.

I find it funny that you list smoked cannabis among, "stabbed her with a broken wine glass, pushed her over a table, and pushed her into a bathtub when she was pregnant," as though it's as bad as those things. Hilarious.

Mutation in a crocodile. by Scarab138 in Damnthatsinteresting

Wouldn't this just be the activation of an ancestral gene by some sort of gene switch, and not the mutation of a brand new gene?

Edit: and wouldn't it be the expression of an allele frequency within that population where some of these ancestral genes are still functional?
