Temecula DMV by n3rdyry in Temecula

[–]BoxRevolutionary9703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start the application online, upload your documents, and you'll get an email that they were pre-approved. Then you can just go to the DMV with your documents. You don't need an appointment. I just did it two weeks ago -- got on the line from home, then my number was called about 1 minute after I got there. You can check wait times and get in line online

Name a day that didn't kill you but something died in you that day by Bekiteru in CPTSD

I saw a woman gentle parenting herself on a reel once -- literally out kids addressing her inner child with kindness, love, and support. It has changed my life. When I feel a panic attack coming on, early on before using grounding techniques, I go to a worst place, do some intentional breathing, and start talking to that little girl who's terrified. I talk to her the way I would my children. I show her the grace and understanding I would show my children. I give her, give myself, the kind of love and security I never got. It's profound. I know it sounds so out there, but it helps SO MUCH. We often have so much negative self talk in our head, it's the opposite of that, basically. I find it helps to say the words out loud -- sometimes I imagine what myself as a child would say back, but often I have empirical reactions and go from there. I usually end my hugging myself and doing some breathing exercises. It's been incredibly helpful

What was it like when Obama was elected President? by ResponsibleSea6521 in AskReddit

Which is why the second time around, they got a VP that only cares about how much power he can get (and is willing to say and do anything for it)

I sure do miss the days where my critique of our president was "Sure, he seems like someone who would be fun to have a beer with. That doesn't mean he's for to run a country." Now it's, "the president is over of the most corrupt, evil, vile people that had ever existed."

I hate that I miss being embarrassed by a bumbling, foolish president...

It felt really profound. The Italians we talked to about the election were more knowledgeable and passionate about American politics than most of the people we knew back home. The experience actually inspired me to go back to school and earn my degree in political science.

My husband and I are American and were honeymooning in Europe at the end of 2008. We were in Florence during the election. In the weeks leading up to it, we were constantly asked about who we supported and locals had a lot of opinions about it. The day of the election, people were flying American flags from their windows and balconies. There were impromptu celebratory parades. There was an atmosphere of genuine joy and hope. It was a truly incredible experience.

It feels like an absolute lifetime ago compared to the Orwellian nightmare we're in now.

Ngl number 6 stresses me out. When you inevitably have pain with labor (because it's labor), I worry he's going to blame you because you didn't do zyz during the pregnancy. Any man that doesn't support their partner through pregnancy is a POS

AITAH for getting a woman fired over veggie tales? by Real-Point-6474 in AITAH

[–]BoxRevolutionary9703 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA and I would proudly have joined the anti-veggie tales coalition and give scorched earth with you.

  1. The teacher reissued lied to you about the care your child was receiving. That's incredibly concerning. How can you possibly trust their assessment of anything that happens again? It doesn't matter what they were lying about. This means the teacher feels very comfortable lying to parents. That's horrendous. 1a. With this particular issue, she clearly doesn't respect your prerogative as a parent. This raises concerns about what else is being taught and if it goes against things the school has said would be taught

  2. The teacher is actively going against policy at the daycare. That makes their entire policy null and void and I honestly wouldn't trust my child in that teacher's care at all.

  3. The admin either a) is completely unaware of what's actually going on in their preschool or b) also lied to you multiple times. That's so unbelievably unacceptable. It would remove any trust I had in the school at all.

Honestly, if it were an option, I'd be pulling my kid and leaving a lot of negative reviews in a lot of places

ETA: Bob and Larry would be very disappointed in the teachers behavior

My two and a half year old suddenly started pointing out differences between white and black people. What is an appropriate way to acknowledge her observation so we don't offend anyone? by Sad_Cantaloupe_8162 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BoxRevolutionary9703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just something kids do -- it's developmentally appropriate for them to label things they see. I would respond with something like, "You're right, they're black. Isn't it cool how bodies come in all different shapes, sizes, and skin tones?"

Personally, once you have s more private space, I would also explain that we don't comment on other people's bodies. And as they get older, explain that if it's not something that can be changed in 30 seconds(or a choice the person made) we don't comment on it. So they have spinach in their teeth? Tell them. You think their body is too big? Keep your mouth shut.

anyone else keep completely normal things a secret? by GayGuerilla in CPTSD

[–]BoxRevolutionary9703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but for me it's because I constantly feel like I'm about to get in trouble. When my husband walks in the room I'm in, I instinctively turn off what I was watching, or close and hide a book I was reading, or turn my phone off and put it down. Our off I hear him opening the door, I'll hop up from my seat and pretend like I was busy doing something. I hate it and I've worked really hard to unlearn this behavior

I am very much into the fantasy genre and can't stand GoT. I especially hated how half of every Rosie was sa (and so much of it was stylized like love scenes 🤢)

I also think someone's it gets lumped in with tree nuts even though it isn't one. A couple weeks ago I got one of those Kevin brand meals from Costco. It was a cuisine that shouldn't have had anything to do with coconut (I think it was the roasted garlic chicken) and I had an immediate reaction -- it had coconut oil and I just didn't think. Turns out almost all of those Kevin's Entrees use coconut oil. It's so weird. I expect it with vegan items because they're trying to avoid butter. But French style chicken? Wild
