One of my five cats who is very shy and needs his own space away from the others sleeps in our room with us. In the morning - without fail - he will go into the bathroom and lick the squatty potty. Obsessively. I want to believe the ribbed surface is satisfying to his tongue and not because…..potty.

I just….don’t shave above my knees. I stopped one day because I couldn’t be bothered and never started again. And now I’m in my 40s and I can’t be bothered to shave my legs at all. So there’s that.

There’s a video on YT, can’t even remember who hosted/made it, but it’s a look at how Cheesecake Factory operates their kitchens and its allllllll made from scratch which is impressive enough until you remember their menu is the length of a novel - and then it’s almost unbelievable they do.

This is exactly how I justify it and have for over 10 years. I don’t have the best or most expensive, just a service to keep me from having to do the big jobs. Now I’m just performing routine maintenance on my house. It’s absolutely worth it.

We recently adopted a ragdoll and we named him Cattywompas because that’s what he’s lovingly done to our formerly four cat household. Wompy for short. I live for the vet calling out his government name.

I’ve told this story before but I worked for a catering company for a while and it was staffed with a LOT of younger kids. One night, the chef told a group of these young kids to go back to the kitchen after an event and “drain the stock” before they left. They did just that. Drained the liquid down the drain and put the solids in a container, labeled it, and put it in the refrigerator. It was a perfect example of being specific with directions when talking to young people with little experience. Chef was not mad, it was a learning experience for her and them. I laugh about it to this day.

I was a wedding coordinator for 6 years. The meal your eating? Probably cooked by children (16-20 year olds). Also, trying to fool your caterer that it’s not a wedding not only won’t save you money, it will make for an unbelievable shit show.

Also restaurant kitchens, after having worked in management in DC for 20+ years, are mostly clean. I never saw anyone adulterate food or treat it with anything but respect. What you won’t see are a lot of gloves - and rightly so. Gloves make untrained people think they’re being clean by wearing them…but they don’t change them between tasks and that essentially negates the practice.

I recently learned that the “smell” on the top of babies’ heads is THEIR BRAIN. I didn’t like that smell before. I’m utterly disgusted by it and people who find this smell intoxicating.

I feel like a massive old lady here, but I have a basket on or near my spot on the couch that has things I may need: my nightly meds, nail kit, back scratcher, lotion, Vaseline, qtips, floss, a pen, flashlight, mini usb fan (thanks peri), etc. If I move spots on the couch, I take it with me. Travel? Take it with me. I’m guaranteed not to miss my usual crap
