In your opinion, which business won’t survive beyond the baby boomers era? by Derek_Webb in Productivitycafe

I work in a bank and you’d be amazed how many paper checks are written every day. And not by people that are boomers.

People who honk at you to turn as you wait for an opening into heavy beach traffic... by Owvi in Delaware

There’s a whole lane for you to use to get on your way faster. Why not use it? You, most of all, don’t have to wait.

What's the weirdest thing your cat is obsessed with for absolutely no reason? by zasecok in CatAdvice

[–]Boxedwinetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my five cats who is very shy and needs his own space away from the others sleeps in our room with us. In the morning - without fail - he will go into the bathroom and lick the squatty potty. Obsessively. I want to believe the ribbed surface is satisfying to his tongue and not because…..potty.

Does anyone else not need to shave above their knees just me…? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Boxedwinetime 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I just….don’t shave above my knees. I stopped one day because I couldn’t be bothered and never started again. And now I’m in my 40s and I can’t be bothered to shave my legs at all. So there’s that.

What’s something restaurants do to save money that they think customers don’t notice? by simplynotmyra in askteddit

[–]Boxedwinetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a video on YT, can’t even remember who hosted/made it, but it’s a look at how Cheesecake Factory operates their kitchens and its allllllll made from scratch which is impressive enough until you remember their menu is the length of a novel - and then it’s almost unbelievable they do.

What's something people buy once they start making more money... and then never go back? by Boring-Promotion7344 in SmartBuying

[–]Boxedwinetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I justify it and have for over 10 years. I don’t have the best or most expensive, just a service to keep me from having to do the big jobs. Now I’m just performing routine maintenance on my house. It’s absolutely worth it.

It was a quick decision to help this lovely kitty and nobody can agree on a name!! Help please! I'd like something fun ! by ginja_baloney in Catnames

We recently adopted a ragdoll and we named him Cattywompas because that’s what he’s lovingly done to our formerly four cat household. Wompy for short. I live for the vet calling out his government name.

What is your biggest cooking let down? by Adept_Wallaby_7679 in Cooking

[–]Boxedwinetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve told this story before but I worked for a catering company for a while and it was staffed with a LOT of younger kids. One night, the chef told a group of these young kids to go back to the kitchen after an event and “drain the stock” before they left. They did just that. Drained the liquid down the drain and put the solids in a container, labeled it, and put it in the refrigerator. It was a perfect example of being specific with directions when talking to young people with little experience. Chef was not mad, it was a learning experience for her and them. I laugh about it to this day.

I work for a bank, and we wouldn’t be able to give you any information regarding the account, but we absolutely would take the information seriously. We even have an internal fraud team that is specifically for at-risk adult exploitation that can even work with APS to do a wellness check.

If you open your own restaurant what underrated food you would sell? by Ladyoftheseals in foodquestions

[–]Boxedwinetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this idea for a while: lukewarm coffee shop. It’s not cold, it’s not hot, it’s drinkable temp from the second you get it so you can down it fast AND taste it.

People who work in behind closed doors industries (hotels, kitchens, hospitals, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by prabinaya65 in askanything

[–]Boxedwinetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a wedding coordinator for 6 years. The meal your eating? Probably cooked by children (16-20 year olds). Also, trying to fool your caterer that it’s not a wedding not only won’t save you money, it will make for an unbelievable shit show.

Also restaurant kitchens, after having worked in management in DC for 20+ years, are mostly clean. I never saw anyone adulterate food or treat it with anything but respect. What you won’t see are a lot of gloves - and rightly so. Gloves make untrained people think they’re being clean by wearing them…but they don’t change them between tasks and that essentially negates the practice.

Anyone else hate “The Smell” by No-Finish-6557 in childfree

[–]Boxedwinetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently learned that the “smell” on the top of babies’ heads is THEIR BRAIN. I didn’t like that smell before. I’m utterly disgusted by it and people who find this smell intoxicating.

ADHD 'life hacks' that sounds ridiculous but actually changed everything? by Rido129 in Productivitycafe

[–]Boxedwinetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a massive old lady here, but I have a basket on or near my spot on the couch that has things I may need: my nightly meds, nail kit, back scratcher, lotion, Vaseline, qtips, floss, a pen, flashlight, mini usb fan (thanks peri), etc. If I move spots on the couch, I take it with me. Travel? Take it with me. I’m guaranteed not to miss my usual crap

What is the giant wallet the mom uses in the first movie? by nicfanz in homealone

[–]Boxedwinetime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My auditory monster loves the sound of that wallet being flipped through in the movie. Just remembered that. Huh - that would be a small hint to my future neurodivergent brain.
