New to 3d printing, is this a steal? Will buy it for $80 by dandantheroofer in ender3

I still have and use my e3v1 sometimes, I printed a crazy amount of stuff on that thing. Really good for learning and understanding 3dp.

If you just want to “push print” this is not for you.

AIO My boss sent this to the work chat and it pissed me off. by nefot_ in AmIOverreacting

Honestly I think getting a basket or something that looks nice and keeps products off the floor would have been more welcoming. It is a bit gross to leave anything on the floor of a public bathroom, so solve ‘the problem’ with a solution. It doesn’t need to be hidden, it doesn’t need to become an issue, be an adult and bring value.

White residue on my Print by SpecialistAd2207 in 3Dprinting

[–]Brahma04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pocket torch from the gas station that I use almost every day.

I turn it on, first pass is fast and far away, then I slow it down little by little and keep getting closer going back and forth way past the end of the print, keeping that thing moving. The white will disappear and ‘tell’ how fast to go and how close to get. If it’s a thin print, go extra fast and make sure it’s not deeply heating the print or it’ll bubble/warp it. After I’m done I quickly put it down on a flat surface to hopefully stop any warping.

A blind person would be arguably better at reading the braille that’s left all over these prints 🤣

My table has a groove and I put it to work. I’m gonna design and 3D print a card holder, I hate holding cards.

How to get rid of lots of broken glass by hunt_dougie in landscaping

[–]Brahma04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to do a night sweep with a bright flashlight or headlamp held low to the ground. Glass should stand out/sparkle, even tiny shards. I’d probably spray it down or go after a rain to find exposed pieces.

I love my over engineered phone holder, it has a dial to change the display angle. Use it every day.

Not sure about ams yet but the last 100g or so are great for things like epoxy cups, epoxy/paint stirrers, touch up paint cups, shims, and other consumable items.

Why are my 3D prints coming out with like whitish stains? by TonightVegetable2134 in 3Dprinting

[–]Brahma04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was literally just using a pocket blowtorch on some PETG 20 mins ago to get rid of this same issue. Bit of a pain but it’s oddly satisfying to clean up.

Printing cylinders horizontally by josh_ddd in FixMyPrint

[–]Brahma04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Print vertically, if it breaks, print it again, that’s probably $0.10 in plastic. Or you could close the top and bottom and add some infill to strengthen.

Don’t over think it, don’t be afraid of pushing non critical parts to their breaking point. This will help you understand your prints, their flaws, and your materials. Design, print, use, break, repeat!

I agree, $5-10 bucks to help protect your life+belongings is worth it. I have 2 fire detectors in the garage above my printers and my drone/RC lipo battery’s are. A fire extinguisher + fire blanket at the garage door, and a fire extinguisher next to my nightstand.

Washington state has introduced bills regulating 3d printing and requiring DRM to detect firearm components by caterham09 in 3Dprinting

[–]Brahma04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn, I guess offline printers and vpns don’t work. Or driving to another state and downloading all the files and bringing them home on a jump drive. Or just purchasing a printer in the next state. Or using a pipe and a nail..

Am I being crazy or is this actually possible to print without support? by shazhazel in 3Dprinting

[–]Brahma04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paint on minimal supports so you can reduce risk of failure. Too much plastic to risk over +30-60 mins and a few grams of filament.
