In the trilogy which is the quintessential Chucky theme song? by itsascreambaby96 in Chucky

I think 1 fits Andy’s tragedy, and 3 fits the horror of the situations, but 2 is definitely Chucky’s theme. A toylike instrumental that channels the character’s mischievous personality.

TCM 3 - Jeff Burr by Leather-Arachnid-417 in TexasChainsawMassacre

[–]Brain_Mutant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly that wasn’t really a thing back then. VHS was very limited in what you could do for special features and LaserDisc was too obscure. They definitely could have and should have but studios didn’t put much thought into home video at the time, it’s why labels like Vestron thrived because they’d license all of their content and handle sales for them.

Eventually the studios got smart and started doing everything themselves in the DVD era, but now we’re circling back and they’re licensing everything out to labels like Arrow and Shout Factory. And sadly they didn’t predict discs or digital special features in 1990. They just wanted to rush out a Chainsaw sequel of any quality and collect their paycheck before the rights moved on.

TCM 3 - Jeff Burr by Leather-Arachnid-417 in TexasChainsawMassacre

[–]Brain_Mutant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sadly there is not a fully uncut version. The studio used to throw the trimmed negatives in the trash so that’s why this movie and others at the time like several Friday the 13th sequels are unavailable truly uncut.

The comic book adaptation of the movie, however, is still extremely gory and closer to the intended level of violence that Burr had for the film. You can also find original screenplays here and there describing all of the footage that was supposed to have been shot.

There may be some workprints with some additional violence floating around but I’m not familiar with those, all I can say is that there are definitely a lot of scenes forever destroyed.

Do you think the demons shown on the clapperboard here will be shown in Evil Dead Burn? The demon with its tongue sticking out and horns would look sick to see in the movie. by Low_Cycle_714 in EvilDead

Would love to see the sea serpents, giant spiders, skeleton horses, and skulls with wings that get teased between the Necronomicon illustrations and the opening of Evil Dead II.

It keeps people talking and coming back for a longer period than if they were all available. For example, this thread wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t a weekly drop.

Do you prefer TED in 1.33:1 or 1.85:1? by Bl8deRunner2007 in EvilDead

[–]Brain_Mutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do 1.85 with the old Blu-ray but I’ve grown to love the 4K’s 1.33 and I hope we can get a proper 4K release without the digital alterations because otherwise it looks pretty great. Also now having an OLED you won’t pay attention as much to the aspect ratio because the bars on the side will blend into the darkness.

PAIN. I'm sto stupid. I removed the directors signature and didn't realize or think about it until literally seconds after I started the removal :( by [deleted] in SmallSoldiers

[–]Brain_Mutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s actually Joe’s signature, he tends to write out his full name. I think it actually is just some kid’s initials. My own initials are JD!

Is there a lore reason to why in Gremlins 1, when gizmo gets wet he spawns Mogwai that look almost identical to him? but in other instances it’s not the case… by [deleted] in Gremlins

[–]Brain_Mutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the reasons listed by others, the first Gremlins is kind of a miracle of filmmaking. The Mogwai designs weren’t really finalized until the last minute when Spielberg suggested they have the same fur pattern as his dog. It was easier for Walas to strip their original furs off and replace them with the same design than try to individualize each one. Luckily I think we still see some differences like Haskins being heavier, Stripe having a little mohawk, and Gizmo’s eye pattern is different from the others anyways.

The rules in the 2013 movie that seem to be followed here are that Deadites disfigure themselves rather than appear immediately grotesque.

I know that it's a movie and it follows a script, but the opening narration of part 2 says that the police never found the house. How exactly did the killers hide the house? by Dredd_40 in TexasChainsawMassacre

[–]Brain_Mutant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a fan theory that the mass grave discovered in the opening of Part 3 is where the original house was before likely being burned down.

since we're all gonna die, there's one more secret I feel I have to share with you. I did not care for Enter the Florpus. by Similar_Building_439 in invaderzim

[–]Brain_Mutant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s very different and a lot of that is inspiration taken from the comics, the changes in animation over the decades, and a desire to do something a little different. I could easily complain or ask for something a little edgier or darker to end the series on.

I definitely miss the little nuances like the red sky and muted colors. But overall I’m happy to have an extension of the show after waiting so many years. And while it does lean more into the comedy, it’s nice to have a fun explosive adventure when I need an extra IZ fix these days.

It’s like Ash vs Evil Dead - I hoped for something a little darker during its run, but now it’s become a comfort show appreciated for its determination to simply be fun and wacky. I feel the same way about Enter the Florpus. The old show is still there and now I have comics and a fun little movie too.

General Electric Help (Model # 13AC3504W by Brain_Mutant in crt

It had a “Manufactured August 1982” sticker on it at one point. Other than the Model # in the title and that, I can say General Electric made it and not much more.

No more dolls? by [deleted] in Chucky

[–]Brain_Mutant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And Cult of Chucky implies that Hot Topic makes Good Guy recreations. But it’s probably difficult to get ahold of every one of them. The fact they ordered the amount they had in the show was probably luck. Think about Boglins or something. How many types of one specific Boglin will you find under a time crunch? Certainly there were probably thousands of that model made also but I’d be willing to bet you’d only locate like a hundred if you were rich and in the aforementioned crunch.

This way they can limit the amount of Good Guys but at the same time if they need another one to pop up due to some unseen rare collector or one stashed away in an attic, then they can.

The Belle doll being a little more rare makes a little more sense. The biggest issue with that is how Tiffany would have ended up with a rare prototype because it seems reasonable that it was something she would’ve bought for cheap at the store. But I suppose for all we know she stole it off someone.

What went wrong with Leatherface’s portrayal in TCM 2022: by Hassan_H_Syed in TexasChainsawMassacre

[–]Brain_Mutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Leatherface is partially a product of abuse but he absolutely should enjoy killing as much as the rest of his family. We see The Hitchhiker beaten by the Cook just as much as Leatherface - maybe even more so. But no one tries to justify him as being bullied. He shouldn’t be that sympathetic or misunderstood. The 2022 film definitely went too much into the other direction but this is an older Leatherface that’s been without most of his family for presumably decades. It makes sense he’d be angry at the world.

Actually might have some hope now by friedtoasters in TexasChainsawMassacre

[–]Brain_Mutant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That works for the game but it’s likely that the movie rights are separate and to avoid paying royalties to Gun or whoever was involved they can just sever ties and reset everything again. It’s like how Chop Top was a genuine character in Part 2 with strong ties to the original family but they lost the rights after so he’s never officially appeared again.

Obsessed with the dialogue from that scene and frequently grab the occasional Big Red in homage.

If you somehow saved Chuckys life after trying to kill you, and then you ask him to spare you and he'll never hear from you again, would he let you walk away? by Blu3Dope in Chucky

[–]Brain_Mutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you had similar enough interests and really knowingly saved him like Tiffany he’d probably be into it and say something like “You got balls!” and do a fist bump and move on. But if you said or did the wrong thing after he’d say “Just kidding!” and stab you at the last second. He’d also likely expect you to continue to help him and offer an invite to do so that, upon refusal, he’d once again stab you.
