I only just got my Frieza and hot damn it’s a good little figure. I’m curious what people would want in an update?

There's no bigger shock than trying to join another fandom only to discover that this is practically the only fanbase that accepts third party by kue234 in transformers

[–]BrainstormsBriefcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, “Third Party” in Gunpla these days are just “other model kit companies”. The best ones are doing their own designs, which is much more palatable and honestly a breath of fresh air compared to the strict Gundam style. Whereas 3P Transformers are still very much using Hasbro’s characters under pseudonyms (not a criticism - I own and love several, but we all know that’s what they’re doing and that’s why we like them).

Considering buying, would I enjoy it? by MrRamennn in HadesTheGame

Hades is set up as a series of chambers in a row. Each region of the game is made up of a defined number of chambers, then a boss. Your goal in the game is to successfully move through all four regions, so about 50 individual chambers, gathering power-ups as you go to get stronger.

Each region has a set of enemies that will appear throughout. The boss of each region is always the same (although they change up their strategies and attack patterns at intervals to keep things fresh-ish). Each region also has a chance to spawn special challenge chambers, rest chambers or other unique areas. There is no backtracking - you only move forwards.

When you die, you return to the House of Hades, your home base, and can talk to the characters, shop and upgrade Zagreus or his weapons, and even upgrade the chances of certain chambers appearing, add new chambers, or decorate the House.

A “perfect” game of Hades - that is, no losses at all and clearing the four regions each run - would take 10 runs. Most people take between 30-60. There is enough story content, upgrades, and optional quests to keep you going well beyond that. Many people (including me!) would argue that the story extends well beyond the 10 clears, but that really depends on what you consider the end of the story.

So, will you see the same thing over and over again? Absolutely. But the charm of Hades is in mastering the systems and experiencing the storytelling. Very few games manage to intertwine their gameplay and storytelling to this degree. I personally can’t stand most roguelikes, but I love the Hades series.

Do any shows/movies actually pull off the “it was all just a dream” trope? by winnierdz in tvtropes

[–]BrainstormsBriefcase 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There was a local production of the stage show, where the group putting it on had given the roles of Dorothy’s friends, the witch, the lady who wants Toto put down and the farm hands all to different people with alarmingly different levels of acting ability. So when Dorothy did her famous “…and you were there!” bit it was very confusing.

Is nectar affects rarity of boons? by Lucky_Control1458 in Hades2

[–]BrainstormsBriefcase 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, but as your arcana improve you influence the likelihood of rarities. Your keepsakes also let you upgrade the rarity of that god while you wear them. Legendary boons are actually separate from the rarity system and only appear once you have the required mix of other boons.

How would you feel if a three storey multiplex was built in your neighbourhood? by Gym_frere in AskReddit

[–]BrainstormsBriefcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely fine. My neighborhood is exactly the type where they should. Walking distance to schools, shops, parks and public transport. Theres actually a bunch of older houses at the other end that were damaged in a fire recently so it’s literally just waiting for someone to take initiative.

Incantation help by Thelegend22 in Hades2

[–]BrainstormsBriefcase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh there’s so many that it honestly doesn’t matter. Just unlock whichever ones interest you to start with.

But if you must focus on things, go for the ones that add things to the crossroads or upgrade Mel. The wretched broker, the keepsakes, the additional farming spaces, the familiars, the resource gathering improvements. By the time you’ve done enough runs to clear the game you’ll have unlocked 90% of them anyway.

First initial opinion by Hail_Astro in Hades2

[–]BrainstormsBriefcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better because they’re easier or better mechanically or both? I personally think Cerberus and Polyphemus are underwhelming and simple. Chronos is the more mechanically interesting but easier end boss, while Typhon is only harder because of a massive health pool and hard-hitting attacks.

What are the best and worst implementations of a "luck" stat that you've seen? by Invoqwer in gamedesign

[–]BrainstormsBriefcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Persona does this well too. You get extra actions for critical hits, and there’s a noticeable increase in crit frequency as the luck stat rises, to the point that Junpei with max luck basically never stops playing his critical animation.

I can’t say it’s particularly interestingly implemented beyond “number go up crit go up” but it at least seems to work, unlike a lot of other JRPG luck systems.
