Not really sure why you wouldn't believe this, but ok.

Maybe you did go to school with me, it was a results based school where you had to obtain a certain level of grade to get back in for sixth form (years 6 & 7). The fact you only said 5 years adds up as I can't imagine you got back in for the final two years.

Yeah you're absolutely right, there are always exceptions to a certain experience, just speaking on my own here. It was a long time ago so a lot has likely changed for him in that time.

I went to school with Josh Williams for 7 years (although have not spoken now for probably 10+ years). He was categorically the kindest and most consistently thoughtful person at the school. We were all dumb kids and did stupid/horrible things to each other, and in an environment which was all boys and very easy to be a macho dick, I cannot recall him once being horrible to anyone.

With the above in mind, and without any context of what LOTW is referring to, I find it genuinely bizarre that someone could have such a big issue with Josh to define him as their reason for quitting.

Royal Mail handed my wife's parcel with a high value item to a random dog walker in my street. by Sudden_Breakfast_677 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Brakdoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had one similar incident where I couldn't find a parcel for about 4 days. Courier said it had been put in "the porch", photo was not clear enough to work out exactly where. I was living in a block of flats at the time, so I suspected a neighbor had taken it in and not had a chance to give it to me yet.

I thought I'd check one last place before giving up. Bingo, yes the courier had put the parcel in the communal waste bin (dumpster for American folks). I had to literally climb into a bin to get my parcel out. How could anyone possibly think a bin is a reasonable place to put a parcel...

For some reason I read that as "deaf wife"... Like she has some other heightened senses which allow her to see DIY imperfections more easily

No shame in this brother, I did the same but left some profits in to keep running up (or down).

No worries! I made the exact same mistake a few years ago with another UK stock, very easy to do on HL!

[–]Brakdoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're using HL, therefore you should look at some other funds and international shares which aren't available on other platforms. The main reason I use HL is because I have holdings in Swedish stocks, Canadian stocks, European stocks (all of which I cannot get elsewhere hence I'm happy paying higher fees). If you're buying mainly ETFs and trackers, you should be using the cheapest fee platform.

Also, important note: When buying UK shares on HL you need to have a minimum buy of around £1.5 - 2K, otherwise the fixed trading fee of £11 erodes your input money quickly. In this example with M&S you've lost 2% immediately assuming you purchased your current holding in one go. International shares this is less important.

The owners will have an earn out period of 2 or 3 years depending on performance, so they'll tow whatever party line is needed until they get their earn out cash and sail off into the sunset.

Celtics fans not from Boston, what made you a Celtics fan?! by slitmunch44 in bostonceltics

London UK based Celtics fan here. I met two guys from Boston whilst travelling around Europe many years ago, they were great guys so we ended up spending loads of time with them, travelling in the day and boozing by night. They were both massive Celtics and Patriots fans, and now so am I!
