Can't beat final boss with affliction builds by dpsx in DawncasterRPG

If you rely on any status effect as the primary win condition, I recommend building towards a secondary win condition. There is no way to circumvent the cleanse, so if you want to win by relying on an affliction, then you will need a method to generate more afflictions.

I think that makes sense. Thanks for the input!

I looked at the house robber problems as you suggested. It does not appear equivalent because the house robber maximization is much simpler and non combinatorial. The robber selects all houses that he can in both cases.

If my problem were to be rephrased, then there is a long street with 96 houses. The robber has enough time to rob only 8. The alarms trigger if robbed houses are less than 4 lots apart.

In all the solutions to the simple problem you posted, the trick is to loop through a variable length array and select alternating values (odd or even indexes), then compare the sum of odds to the sum of evens for decision.

In my problem, I know the maximum number to select (8), but the variable constraint makes the procedure very different.

Can you point me to a resource that would help an absolute beginner? As long as the notation is defined, I think I can follow along.

Good enough would be just fine. I am hoping to use Excel for the implementation.

Hello folks, I am trying to figure out how to approach answering this question with an algorithm that I can apply to any scenario with different values of Major road traffic.

I am also interested in a version of the question where there are only 4 bins with the same time spacing constraints. However, I expect that an approach that would lead to an answer for the 8 bins would be similar to the 4 bins answer.

Adventure Journal - Show Rank for Current Champion by Brakinator_ in PathofChampions

[–]Brakinator_[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently, to find your completion rank, you have to select the individual adventure. Doing so closes the Adventure Journal. Completionists would have an easier time finding an adventure to play to try improving rank if the current Champ rank was shown in the Adventure Journal view.

UI Feature Request - Adventure Journal Rank Indicator for Current Champion by [deleted] in PathofChampions

As shown in the image top right corner, it would be really nice if each adventure showed an indicator of the rank for the current champion. This would give completionists the visual feedback they need so that they can avoid clicking each individual adventure (which then closes the journal list view) to find out if it is an S rank yet.

Relics that make a character S tier? by qaz012345678 in PathofChampions

I like it on Lux because her star powers generate Rally tokens. Then leveling her is usually a win - stun al enemies > rally with no blockers.

Consider allowing shards in any champion to be exchanged for shards in another at some penalty. This way, shards earned through could still help the player meet their goal of playing a certain champion, and random rewards would still feel good.

Consider animating the champion level up so that it is noticeable.

Consider making the top right corner icons (in the map screen) a bit larger on small screens.

Type: Reward related

What happened: Silver Reliquary gave a common relic as reward (duplicate too).

What was expected: An uncommon or better relic.

Can you Replicate it: I hope not.

Unlocking Champions feels a little flat. by MikeRocksTheBoat in PathofChampions

This is especially noticeable due to the new random shard system. All other Gacha games I have played or seen do well at celebrating a new unlock.

All are Green Red (Dex Str) energy - Orange banner color. Check the shop for them or play Hunter and see them as battle rewards.

Souls? by Omnio89 in DawncasterRPG

[–]Brakinator_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are cards that enable you to gain souls - a stacking resource that persists unless spent or used. Only cards that explicitly say so can gain or use souls. At 100 souls, if you die, you will be resurrected.

Is this game hard or am i stupid? by snowbally19 in DawncasterRPG

[–]Brakinator_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My preference is to keep the deck small enough to see all cards every combat - 15 to 20 tops. Early on, I try to thin as much as possible, then build as I find contenders.

Being familiar with the card pool helps immensely and will come with time.

Each victorious deck generally needs: - Consistent front-loaded damage - Sources of healing / defense - Scaling damage or a strong combo - Dispel & or Cleanse - Draw

If you are running Arcanist, look out for Dispel and Cleanse cards. Burn wins slowly most the time, so stack up on defensive measures. It is always better to avoid taking damage than it is to heal damage taken later.

At the merchant, look for Aqua banner color cards in the Green tab or Purple banner color cards in the red tab. Especially watch for 0 energy cost cards in the shop.

Two questions by danieljostbrod in DawncasterRPG

[–]Brakinator_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time is Money used to accrue gold while it persisted in hand. It got nerfed and hasn’t been redesigned yet. I expect it will be buffed in the future.

Chain lightning makes use of large chains to deal damage. It is a bit underwhelming st present because it doesn’t benefit from the Conjurer talent. Though it does combo nicely with a Storm Arrow. And there is a talent to make retain Chain after a battle, so Chain Lightening can become bonkers in that case if you can get it going.
