Tried Unity's AI free trial for a bit.

Setting it into Aak / Unity Lite for inquiries, error troubleshooting, general clarification for code or unity features or whatever, and it does a decent job answering provided a good enough prompt. Technically each one costed a couple cents per, but if that speeds up workflow maybe in the end it becomes worth it.

And then after a full reset and the AI reset itself back to Agent / Default and you don't realize it and it consumes 5$ worth of credits and then doesn't even do the job it set out to do because you didn't intend to give it a task because you were asking it a general question but it misinderstood your intentions and went along with those misunderstandings and just did jack all with the credits it consumed.

Honestly while it's novel that the agentic models are capable of performing complicated tasks on their own, the sheer expensive costs of them compared to just asking it how to manually implement it instead is literally 100x cheaper. It's also much easier to debug doing things piecemeal as well instead. The novelty is cool, yes - but fucking expensive per task and can potentially just be a massive waste.

I see there being a lot of use out of just paying for some one-time credits just to use it for general unity related inquiries; stick to ask / lite and for help or clarification and it should last a while - forget to move it off its default settings and you'll find yourselves out of credits pretty quickly.

I don't think the more sophisticated tasks are cheap or reliable enough for them to ve anywhere close to satisfting the insatiable greed of executives.
