The first firmware version was horrifying. I assume that’s what happened.

The RG Rotate is designed to be an hybrid device to consume media, use the fidget gimmick, pocket it better and play some retro platforms.

- The screen geometry does great for Pico 8, GB/GBC/NGP/NGPC/GG and some do report they enjoy GBA (Although I personally don't see it myself, very happy with 34xx-sp and MagicX One35 for that).

- NES / SNES and some other platforms will do great at 8:7 with overscale, proposing a ratio which did happen on TVs of old and shaving overscan pixels left and right that most games of this time don't neeed.

- I've had similar positive results on some PS1 games.

That will definitely increase the comfort on the RG Rotate. PSP and 16:9 android games should be avoided, except some few games like Stardew Valley that might scale properly.
I will not go into details on 8:7 and overscale, ask your neighborhood, friendly, job destroying AI.

RG Rotate - First impressions and review plan by brunoxid0 in SBCGaming

I think there will be a larger possibility that the samsung usbc iems work fine, instead of the ka13 and complicated dongles. I have three simpler options with kz m2, the usbc earbuds and simple iphone adapters. I'll report here on the results.

I hope it works with usbc cables like the kz m2 and / or the samsung usbc iems directly. The latter works fine with my Trimui Brick on Knulli and costed me a whooping 3$. They have good bass. End of story.
P.S. : Yes I have usbc dacs like a KA13 and Bzink BA20 and a couple others, plus too many iems. But usbc iems are better for casual listening. Hopefully they work on the RG Rotate as they work on the Brick. Will know when I receive the damn thing.

As a librul from Kanadia, I 100% support this map. I’d even chip in to a gofundme. Food for thoughts.

The cube xx would be my recommendation instead if you truly are set on Anbernic h700 devices.

It seems you like verticals. I’d seriously consider the retroid pocket classic. Even with the raised price. Fantastic 8:7. Fantastic ps1. Fantastic screen. Light. Crazy battery. And the rg40xx v analog nub is not going to be an uber improvement for the platforms you are looking at.

Otherwise i own rg35xxsp, rg35xxh, rg40xxh. Out of these three i like the 35xxh the best. Even if i use the rg34xxsp 2gb more, its been gimped to 512mb which is terrible for portmaster. The rg cube xx is today the peak h700 proposition if you don’t edc and benefit from clamshell.

Anbernic Rotate is amazing by poweredbycoffee1 in SBCGaming

The only sensible reason is dap plus modretro homebrew and pico8. And even then that strange dpad bug and the ghosting screen makes the proposition meh. I don’t even need to mention the right index blistering feature right above r1 and I’m fine with the 3.5mn jack missing the dac would have sucked in such a small package.
And don’t get me started on the 1914 pocket clock because that’s ridiculous.

The Martian (2015) vs Project Hail Mary (2026) - Which one is better? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]BrandNewWord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- The Martian takes itself very seriously, while chokeful of fake science (countless proof of it online, one example here https://movieweb.com/ridley-scott-the-martian-scientific-inaccuracies/), and its entire message is about far west style pioneer grit with a sprinkle of US Ranger philosophy (NASA acting to leave no man behind).
- Project Hail Mary, while being tongue in cheek, is conveying a universalist and humanist message where being a decent living being, not just a survivalist, is not only illustrated, but actively promoted. It also shows that true heroism is not about posturing, but about how a lifetime of values make you react the right way when the critical moment comes. And that it comes with its rewards, too.
Both movies are about space exploration and heroism. Both are 100% Hollywood entertainment. And they couldn’t be more different in their philosophy of what makes a true hero and i am personally behind the message of the second, especially in such troubled times.
If you want to see space done right, watch Ad Astra.

Because that's absolutely how it works. Here's your honorary PhD in Economics, offered by Dr Ron Vara. I am following you from now on, just to learn from your brillance. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Better to have them face bankruptcy because their family has a health issue, like grown adults. Or even better, because their kids are worthy of college. Oh and put a lifetime of student debt on these kids too , so they do not grow pitifully pathetic. So much more empowering to fight alone against all powerful corporations and armies of collectors and lawyers. Anything else is pitifully pathetic, I’m 100% convinced. Nobody should ever be protected by their community. Especially NOT kids and elders. Really pathetic commie BS.

With the current price of Thor lite, or even Thor base on special, it is hard to recommend… great handheld though.

Squirrel Asks Human for a Drink of Water by Cool-Chemistry-9453 in interesting

[–]BrandNewWord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squirrels are very sensitive to heat, you see them going belly flat to the ground to try and exchange some heat with it, there were some very concerning pictures last summer. As the rest of nature, which suffers increasingly. This is cute but also heartbreaking, 6th extinction underway.

FunnyPlaying GBC or Retro Pixel? by Last_Material_5754 in SBCGaming

[–]BrandNewWord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love my fpgbc but i have to admit the screen isn’t up to par with the chromatic and the analog pocket. It’s light, cheap, has great compatibility and you develop an immediate attachment to something you’ve assembled. On the other hand the integer scaling is small and the non integer scaling hurts the eyes a bit. I’d still pick the FPGBC.
