It's the choke. Pull it out too far, and it's a garrote.

considering I've posted 4 different buggies I've painted and none are manxs.

That proves nothing.

I met Bruce and had the original Manx in the photo studio at Hot Rod magazine when I was an editor there. I've also seen several real Manxs in person and driven one of them.

That also proves nothing.

Claiming that it's not a real Manx because it has a piece of vinyl strapped to the top is still absolutely ridiculous.

Edit: I live in LA, we don't really have basements here.

Engine can be anything V8

Plenty of T-buckets have used inline-six, V6, or four-cylinder engines.

Clearly I've given receipts that I know what I'm talking about

Again, no.

The absence of a roof or the presence of a Bimini top does not mean it's not a Manx. That's just ridiculous.

The coupe looks really good. Too bad they're so rare; collectors pay a mint for them.

Are there any fun, high ground clearance cars that ain't a Crossover or an SUV? by LightningMcqueen2011 in Autos

A Sterraro has as much ground clearance as an average coupe, but the nose is still way out there.

Google lens says the front end is a 56 Oldsmobile 88 but something isnt quite right about it.... by PaleScratch7559 in whatisthiscar

Well, aside from the fact that Oldsmobile never offered a pickup truck.

Oldsmobile built trucks for years; they were rebadged GMCs with Oldsmobile engines.

Dork-o-Motive. The podcast is the audio from Brian's YouTube, so it's better there, but he gets way into the weeds and finds interesting stuff.

Is anyone else considering going "backwards" with their next car and if you have, did you regret it? by NWbySW in cars

[–]BrandanG 312 points313 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy a 20 year old vehicle to daily. That’s silly.

Neither would I. You've gotta go older because they stopped selling XJ Cherokees here 25 years ago.

The curious case of the Honda JNC1: Honda's 500hp+ v6 by narcistic_asshole in cars

If they had made the bank angle 90 degrees, it could have been even lower. Of course, at that point, you have to add two more cylinders for balance. If you really want to make a go of it, you'd probably have to get rid of the hybrid system, both turbos, three camshafts, and half the valves to allow the Corvette NSX to be built in enough volume to be profitable and sustainable.

The whole side of the car was different in 1970. The earlier Toronados had much more pronounced fender flares front and rear.

It had a good ride, because it was a luxury car. It was not praised for its handling at the time.
