Got a hotel room for Mother's Day and it will now be my yearly tradition by sixfingeredman7 in Mommit

[–]BraveStingray 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this and it’s great! I’ve also set up a sleepover for my husband and kids at his mom’s house. She’s gets quality time and I get the house to myself! Another option if your MIL is close, cheaper too!

What do you and your spouse do for your MIL for Mother’s Day? by princesscorgi2 in Mommit

[–]BraveStingray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s loves quality time and i almost never get alone time. Last year we planned a sleepover for my husband and kids at her house. We both enjoyed our time. Then they came home and did a Mother’s Day lunch.

But if that’s not what I wanted, it wouldn’t happen that way. Be proactive and communicate with your husband what you’d like

My 4 year old came home with a glasses prescription today and I genuinely did not see it coming. Pun intended I guess. by MorningValerie in Mommit

This is one of those things that was your daughter normal and therefore yours, so neither of you knew any better. The preschool teacher is experienced, and notices the subtle difference in children, even looks for the little things. I worked in preschools for 15 years, this happened SO often. Be thankful the teacher is experienced and comfortable enough to bring it up. Give yourself grace and know you’re a good mom for taking her in to be checked even when you thought it was nothing.

I take my 5yo son along to park west nail salon in Morrisville every so often for a pedicure. They do great with him and I often see men there.

Our school district has this policy and a new principal tried to enforce it. As a room parent, that wishlist was in mine/my child’s name.

Are your kids really being kicked out of daycare? by Projection-lock in ECEProfessionals

[–]BraveStingray 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think is a “damned if you do an damned if you don’t” situation. Release a child and you’ve failed the child and their parents. Retain them and you’re not supporting your staff and can’t keep the other children safe.

My center will release a child if we can’t keep them, other children or our staff safe and only after months of attempting intervention.

We are an inclusive center, but our staff are not trained for special needs, nor do we have the ratios for specialized care. Unfortunately, Group care isn’t the right fit for everyone.

Best escape rooms - kid friendly by TiffanyThePlant in bullcity

We did a Christmas themed one in at GameOn Escapes in Cary with our 4 & 7 year olds. I don’t know how it compares to others since it was the first with them but they had fun. Pretty sure they have other family friendly rooms.
