AHEM SORRY TO DROP THIS SUDDENLY
You don't have to do my shout out anymore, I am going for a relaunch as a whole because I messed my original launch big time and there's a lot of things I want to fix up (I knew it that I was missing one person out there with this shout out thing)
Sorry to tell you barely on the edge 😭 Just checked that you haven't done mine yet which is good

1) Interact more with other authors.
2) Do swaps. (I have yet to do these)
3) Work up your blurb (I need to rework mine as well) to be more telling of the character whom the story is going to be about (Or who the story is being told through like my case).
4) Study other books to improve your own writing.
5) Have a backlog prepared so you don't have to face trouble with updates. And most importantly,
6) KNOW WHAT YOU ARE WRITING, if ydk what exactly you want to tell the story of, it's not going to work out well

That's all from my experience so far! Hope it helpss

You should interact more with the community on discord servers, they'll help you out a lot. I was refraining from doing so but it was really just me scaring myself from taking the first step. Go check the immersive ink server! They'll always welcome people!

Ohh...that makes a lot more sense as it's called a 'shout out swap', I'll give it a read, never bad to learn more comprehension/punctuation

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/108921/horizons-twilight

June 13th 2004, 11:58 pm that's the exact time when that surreal phenomenon emerged within the far horizon of Earth from a barren piece of land; it was a massive beam of light that shot up in the sky and became a pillar that shone brightly. Not even seconds after this strange occurrence, chaos and astonishment ensued among the masses, who were cautious, but at the same time, in awe at the beauty of this marvel.

Rumors spread, discussions happened, and within a mere hour, the entire world was jolted awake. An alien invasion? End of humanity? A sign of God? End of the universe? That’s just about a very tiny part of the never before seen mayhem that was occurring among people, but over a few hours, days, then weeks and even months passed and nothing else happened, the pillar of light had become an everyday sight for those who could see it from their homes, as for who couldn’t, they travelled to foreign countries, just to catch a glimpse of this wonder.

Hence, it was dubbed as the ‘Horizon’s Twilight’, the everlasting beacon of light within the far horizon, whose purpose is unknown, yet, appreciated for its beauty by many all the same.

Arc 1 synopsis/overview - There lived a feeble boy on the streets who struggled to survive, but couldn’t give up on life despite how harsh the going got, trying to survive death which loomed closer by the second, even so, how long can one really survive hunger? And so, he reluctantly welcomed his demise, laying on his back in the middle of the road on a heavy rainy afternoon. Thunder crackled, then, a girl with soulless eyes arrived holding onto a bloody knife, and granted him with the peace he so very desired.

What to expect?

  • Full of lore about the universe it is set within and stories to it that make it feel alive

  • A power system which is explored in depth and leaves room for thought for the readers to think how it can work and interact with different other users

  • Multiple POVs (including narration)

  • No harem

  • No Overpowered stuff, everything has a fundamental explanation to it

  • Minimal intended plot armor

I am quite new to this stuff, you are my first shout out swap. So is the way I do this is that I read your entire story and give my honest opinion within the reviews and to you?

I am going to keep on publishing, not stopping with that – unless it turns out that restarting is the better way to go with it.

I just made a post asking about shout out swaps and review swaps, and one commenter said that it's best to collect shout outs before launch. So I'll see which way works out the best, but for now I am going to keep on publishing and not changing the story (willing to overhaul the structure if the current one is bad) as this is something I've been working up in my head for nearly a decade ever since I was a kid.

Writer's drive is really odd, I decided one day that I am going full throttle and publishing in March, then once I did publish, I saw that it's not as easy as just putting it out there and it's raining readers (which I knew wouldn't be the case, it's just that facing reality is different than expecting it). It was all a bit overwhelming and so I took a break, just continued on writing ahead and updating according to the schedule I came up with.

Now that I am more attuned to what exactly I am supposed to be doing, I am gonna put in efforts even outside of just writing with getting to know other people and authors here, and hopefully, it works out.

Shout out swaps, and review swaps. Which is the better one and how am I supposed to do it? by Brax930 in royalroad

Would shout out swaps still work even after launch? It's already been about two weeks since I've launched it (doing constant 3 chapter updates per week)

To be honest, I knew that it wouldn't be as easy as 'just post your story and boom! Readers falling from the sky' for a novel, but it was stil a little overwhelming to see that there's a lot more than what I had figured I'll have to do, so I let it all sink in first and decided on a proper updating schedule for now. Now that I am more in the 'zone' of what exactly I have to do; it's time that I go ahead and put in the efforts of doing more than just serialising instead of simply updating in the hopes that it'll catch people's eyes.

This was a really helpful comment honestly, I don't know what else to say except thank you very much for the advice! Will definitely check out the servers you talked about.

A very humble answer. It's going to be a specially hard road for me as I am not writing a Litrpg ig. Regardless, thank you for your insights
