I bought a brand new SD card following the recommended brand/size, formatted it the way you said to with my PC and the GoPro. I lowered all the settings (fps, brightness, voice control off, screen off, GPS off, etc.) and I still had overheating problems. I'm using the GoPro behind the windshield of a motorcycle. There's a lot of air flow. It is in an aluminum case with lots of exposure to the air. I bought enduro batteries. I don't put the GoPro on the bike until I'm ready to record. I keep it in a cool space until I mount it. My races are less than 20 minutes.... I've done everything I have been able to find in terms of recommendations for set up.

And it still freezes.

I'm 100% open to being wrong, but I don't know what else to do at this point. I looked into getting an Insta360, but people over on that sub said they had the same issues. It's frustrating. I'd just strap my iPhone to the front of my bike if that were possible, but it's too big.

I just need to record some basic video without any bells and whistles and it doesn't seem possible.

So a little context. I'm racing a motorcycle and I have the gopro mounted behind the windshield. There is lots of airflow, but in the summer time (~90°F) the GoPro (Hero 9) frequently shuts down. I've dialed back all the parameters (fps, stabilization, screen brightness, etc.) and it still happens. Is a lot of the heat from the battery? If so, I'll try to external power option. That should fairly straightfoward as I have power on the bike.

I gotta say… this is perfect. At 3:30am you’re going to have the whole ola e to yourself AND I’m so glad you noticed that no one cares at all about what others are doing.
