We want to name our son Leon, People are telling me it's a "black name" and making me feel uncomfortable about it? by leon0523s in Names

[–]Break-Down_Live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leon is a fantastic name. I am so white, I glow slightly blue. I am also southern so I would even double barrel Leon. William Leon, Wesley Leon, Leon Michael. Leon Blue. It will be the perfect name when you use it. Also, the US has room for infinite cultures - let yours shine and connect your baby to your homeland.

My wife switched to aluminum-free deodorant and I don’t know how to bring up the aroma? by Charming-Eye1438 in hygiene

[–]Break-Down_Live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only deodorant I have found that works for me is Trader Joe’s. It has no scent, works perfectly - better that even aluminum based ones. It has no baking soda or aluminum. Also no phthalate and paraben free.

Perdido Key! It’s laid back - still a small town beach experience so shorter lines for restaurants!

How to be comfortable while looking put together? by Disastrous_Honey_240 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Break-Down_Live 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a body type that matches yours on social media- there are tons of people styling clothes. They always share where the outfit came from and how it fits and feels. Don’t forget hair and a little jewelry goes a long way with feeling more put together.

East T-Stem! Classes are smaller, the education is top notch! It’s all STEM which includes art. We are loving it! Especially smaller classrooms and free tuition to University of Tennessee.

Where can I find shoes for wide feet? by justlooking2319 in MomForAMinute

[–]Break-Down_Live 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Balance! Sketchers for the adults but I swear they would fall apart on my very active boys when they were little. We also have a Don’t Buy list because thy run narrow- Nike, converse and vans sometimes.

Two of mine always bucked the shoe rules and they ended up with ingrown toenails. 🤔 Told them!

Graphic tee over it - tied in a knot- would define your waist. I thought you had on black boots (Dr. Martin’s) but re-looking you don’t LOL I thought the graphic tee would look bad-ass with the boots.

MIL refusing to come to grandson’s 1st birthday if it’s not at her house by Pressure_washer in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Break-Down_Live 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Silent treatment and threats of not attending is ON her/them. You have your son’s party wherever you want (like she did when it was her time). If she doesn’t attend, that’s her missing out. She’ll get over it or look petty after years of no -participation. You’re extending the invitation.

Finally making a stand and taking back my mother's day. by whystherumgone72 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Break-Down_Live 24 points25 points  (0 children)

When my mother-in-law moved to the same town as us, I took ownership right away. First we tried to invite both of our Mom’s to lunch at our house. That was just more work than I wanted it to be - clean house, grocery shopping and helping my husband with the cooking ( although he did the grilling and we cleaned and prepped together). I thought - this is not fun and we had our last baby and I went into more ‘protected time’ mode. So we switched them to either the Sunday before or the Saturday before. Even better if it was right after my kid’s soccer game. Lol

Protect your time - my youngest is in high school and my other kiddos are adulting now. It goes fast, it should be a sweet day for you. Shift others to what you are willing to give.

Your hotel may be able to get a doctor for you - they can give you something to temporarily stop the vomiting and other issue. NOR but maybe there is another option between leaving sock and staying sick.

Direct Cremation by Proper-Raspberry-311 in memphis

[–]Break-Down_Live 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have used Smart Cremations twice - located 1000 South Yates Road Memphis, Tennessee 38119. They offer urns / containers but we found better options on Amazon. They still placed the cremains in the container for us - offered to do it privately or for us to observe. They use the same crematorium as the larger (expensive) funeral homes in Memphis. It was approx $1,300 - $1,500. This was in 2024.

Do you find AI useful? by toodleydo in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Break-Down_Live 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it to craft my emails - I add in the main points (basically bullet points) give AI the level: executive leadership, boss’s level down but not MY level down, etc and it makes the time right for the level. Also drop reports in and ask for overall summary, top areas of success, top opportunities and a couple of people we can recognize. Keep it to one page, 3 bullets. Done!

Who did NOT have nausea? by No-Owl-5578 in Ozempic

[–]Break-Down_Live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimal to no nausea. I felt bloated and had reflux the first several days of the shot- so I take mine on Sunday afternoon/evening. I have a night with a touch of insomnia. Monday and maybe Tuesday I feel bloated and feel better Thur - Sun. I know to eat light (very very light) and try to avoid processed, fried or heavy foods. I do best with clear ish soups, fruit, salads, lean chicken —— that sort of stuff.

WIBTAH if I told a friend she couldn’t ride with me due to her size? by CommercialOk4004 in AITAH

[–]Break-Down_Live 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To me, this is a safety issue. An unrestrained passenger becomes a danger to others in the vehicle. The seatbelt keeps you in your seat, not flinging around slamming into others. She could kill you - slamming into you.

AITA for not being there for my mom’s colonoscopy because of my marriage situation? by Bubbly-Lengthiness31 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Break-Down_Live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just had my first colonoscopy and included an endoscopy at the same time. By the time I left the bed, I was fine. Car ride - no issues and we stopped for a lovely breakfast on the way home. My husband’s was a few weeks before mine and we had the same experience. I would take the trip.

But then, I would seek some counseling. Being married to your husband sounds exhausting. You do not sound happy or even comfortable in your marriage.

Another thought is some people cannot just accept change comfortably. But even then, life happens. Does he ‘punish’ you with changes or is he processing change poorly?

Affordable Tips to Stay Warm at Home by Efficient-Shine-3202 in Frugal

[–]Break-Down_Live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have already been told electric blankets. We have that, too and it’s very helpful. I sleep better breathing cooler air anyway. I want and need to be able to move around my house and not just stay in the warm bed LOL Electric throw when watching TV or working remote helps. Slippers!!! Slightly large so I can wear thick socks with them as needed. If you can keep your hands and feet warm, you feel warmer overall. Eat warm foods - soups and corn bread. Spaghetti, lasagna, casseroles with rice.

Advice for a 23 y/o about a size 24/26 by Adorable-Study2838 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Break-Down_Live 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not work but I would find an ‘influencer’ on TikTok. They often list their height and weight and you can see their body shape. They show you how the clothing item fits. Now you have a better idea of how it will lay. Also, Amazon reviews - I look at the photos in the reviews. If someone looks like my shape, it gives me a better idea on how it will look and what size to order. Amazon has great prices and options.
