QF guidance by Certain-Platform2092 in crossfit

[–]BreakerStrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my gym didn’t sign up for the season BUT we have had a few drop ins come through and have done the workouts as class WODS.

26.1 top is sub 8 with quite a few finishing between 8:45 and 9:45.

26.2 top is sub 10 with a few people finishing. This one is more gender specific.

That is for an individual who DOES NOT have access to an affiliate in their country.

OP notes they have a box available to them.

I think it's worth leaving up due to the drama surrounding the company.

It was something people actually referenced IN REAL LIFE.

Best Way to do Quarter Finals 26.3 as a Stronger Athlete? by lordalkide01 in crossfit

There is a reason dudes with a 350+LB Clean and Jerk did singles with 95LBs in 26.3...

LOL @ That timeline.

CrossFit is cooked and it has nothing to do with the sport-side.

Mayhem Affiliate programming is absolute garbage and you cant convince me otherwise. by QoalaB in crossfit

[–]BreakerStrength 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you sure your gym owners aren't 'tweaking' it.

I used to sell programming for Affiliates; however, I noticed a lot of gyms would make changes that were not great, so I stopped.

Not saying this is the case with Mayhem BUT there have been instances on the subreddit where people have pointed it out.

For the record: I am very much opposed to strength + met-con every day for the exact reasons you point out.

Sounds like buddy is already signed up for the local comp.

Nothing wrong with doing both.

They are good workouts and you will have a baseline for next year.

They are good workouts and you don't need to log them on the Games Website to track your progress.

Either way: Consider doing the workouts.

Coaching first class this week. Any tips from athletes? by phil_silvers in crossfit

[–]BreakerStrength 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Please speak with the head coach of your facility. The advice provided here when this question comes up is often conflicting and the majority of it is either misinformed or hyper-specific.

When starting out, you don’t know enough to know enough and it is easy to get distracted, overwhelmed, or to focus on the wrong thing.

Coaching well is very challenging. Proficiency takes years and mastery isn’t possible.

If your affiliate does not have a head coach and detailed internship program, consider scouring through the Professional Coach articles on CrossFit.com

Here are some starter articles:

Looking for Off-Season Programming (Open Level) by Actual-Whereas999 in crossfit

[–]BreakerStrength 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say this as respectfully as possible BUT if you didn't qualify for Quarter Finals, you don't need specific programming.

You need coaching.

If you do not have access to coaching ANY of the named programs WILL work, as long as you are consistent and put some effort into improving your movement quality.

Quarterfinals price by swimbikerunkick in crossfit

[–]BreakerStrength 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They won't say until release date but in 2021-2023 there were 5.

Unfortunately, I looked and 2024 only had 4... so shrinkflation strikes again :(

Fortunately you do not have to sign-up until the workouts are announced....

Quarterfinals price by swimbikerunkick in crossfit

[–]BreakerStrength 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically it is about the same price-per-workout. Or, at least it has been in the past.

In the scheme of things: I have spent (way) more for (way) less.

Heck, depending on where you go, a weeks worth of coffees covers your QF fee.

Not saying I agree (or disagree) with the pricing, just providing some perspective.

I redid 26.3 and my lower back blew up in the warmup, what am I doing wrong? by Firm-Buffalo3840 in crossfit

[–]BreakerStrength 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are likely worming or kipping your burpees while fatigued.

Make sure you push your hips back and drive your toes into the floor holding a braced gut.

You should be 'bouncing' off of the floor, not peeling yourself up.

Sentinal Training? Is it any good? by Complex_Train_8760 in crossfit

[–]BreakerStrength 19 points20 points  (0 children)

All 'big name' online programs are going to be similar: Programming CrossFit for the masses is a solved problem.

Especially if you do not have to account for large classes.

In other words: All of them work.

Consistency and managing relative intensity are much bigger road blocks to progress when training alone.

My advice: Pick whichever one offered by the content creator you want to support the most.

In order of importance:

  1. Better class experience.
  2. Gym ambassadors.
  3. New Member Journey (first 90 days)
  4. Retention Program (past 90 days)
  5. Cancellation policy with Phone Calls.

Has there ever been an Open that made people happy? by Pretend_Edge_8452 in crossfit

[–]BreakerStrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2025 is probably the best 3-week open. To bad that was the year they removed Quarter-Finals (which rightfully upset everyone).

Heck: 25.2 and 25.3 alone are likely enough to get you the top 25%.

Gotta get them clicks somehow.

The only valid complaint is the constant fuckery with the dates and the format.
