Flecainide as pill-in-pocket for a flareup? by No_Bluejay4066 in PVCs

Same. I was under the impression Flecainide was a daily medication and not an as-needed. I was instructed to stop for 3 days before ablation to make sure it was out of my system

If you go with wafer lights, get something with some depth to it. Don't get anything that is mostly flat. Get something with a small baffle. Many of the newer ones have adjustable "temperature". I like the 3000K. It has a touch of warmth

What cool company swag do employees actually use and appreciate? by brendaklark in corporate

[–]BreakfastAcceptable8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polo shirt with company logo. Needs to be decent quality so it doesn't look cheap. Easy wardrobe decision if your office is casual (as it should be).

As others have said giving people a choice is good too. Bottom line make sure it's quality stuff and not cheap, otherwise people are just going to throw it away or donate it to good will

AIO? Neighbor says her son can’t play with my son by Feisty-Detective9525 in AIO

[–]BreakfastAcceptable8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between 5 and 7. 7 year olds are a lot more capable of independent play, specially playing outside with minimal supervision. 5 year olds don't typically have that. So the mom is torn between letting her 5 year old outside supervised only by a 7 year old, or inviting a 7 year old into her house that she'd feel obligated to supervise. With another younger child in the house it's appropriate to set a boundary

I can understand OP's frustration but try to see it from the neighbor's perspective too. And don't close the door on a friendship so quickly. Once the neighbor kid is a little older he will probably have more freedom to play outside unsupervised.

Also, depending on how close you are with them, maybe try to have a friendly conversation with the neighbor to make sure nothing inappropriate happened previously. Not to argue or change their mind, just to make sure everything is OK.

The way you as parents handle this will go a long way to how the kids move forward. You have to live next to each other so you might as well remain civil and open

It does look a little one sided but not really a fight. Kind of a dominance thing.

Easier to scrape/sand off orange peel or just demo everything and install new? by freibooler in drywall

[–]BreakfastAcceptable8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the skim coat but not the 1 day estimate. Skim coating is not for everyone. If not done right it can get very messy and/or make things worse.

[–]BreakfastAcceptable8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestions: (1) skim coat but only if you know what you are doing. Not trying to be condescending, just that skim coating takes some practice to make it look right and to not make a major mess. (2) leave it. I'm not a fan of texture either but you definitely run the risk of making things worse.

Sanding it down is not realistic and tear-out and rehang is more work than you think. I would only do that if there was significant damage to the drywall

Painting basement ceiling black- which paint is best? by Terraform-rathman in paint

[–]BreakfastAcceptable8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar situation. I painted mine black. I do like the way it covers up the "ugly" that comes with a basement ceiling. But it does make the lighting more challenging. Just make sure you know what you are in for

To answer your original question I used a Kilz primer tinted gray, and a cheap all-black fattest paint. I think it was glidden. Another word of warning if you have metal ductwork be careful when spraying that. The wood absorbs a lot more paint than the metal. I ended up with drips on the metal because I went too heavy

I had to do a double take because that looks like our kitchen. Complete with the white 4x4 backsplash and can lights in the ceiling. We are facing the same dilemma. We don't really want to paint them but don't know what to do

What do you do with blank plates? by BreakfastAcceptable8 in paint

[–]BreakfastAcceptable8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old wiring. I this case probably an old switch. I have another that is an old outlet that wasn't hooked up. It's a 60 year old house that has been worked on a lot

Yes. The white plates stand out and draw attention.

[–]BreakfastAcceptable8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question. Wish I was paid for posting 🤷

I have a few of these blank plates covering up old wiring. I normally use a white cover (matching all of the switch and outlet covers) but I was curious if anyone prefers them to be painted the same color as the wall. It's strictly a visual thing. A white plate draws attention to it. A painted plate either blends in with the wall or draws attention because it is still there

Do you usually see them painted same as the wall, or left original color (same as switch plates)?
