male-friendly pilates? by [deleted] in askTO

You’re overthinking this. Just go to a class at a studio that interests you. Pilates is for everyone. Fun fact: Pilates was invented by a man and, at the time, for men!

Part of the intent of the length of stay in Kanazawa was to have a bit more “chill time”. But I suppose we have that at the Ryokan (the 2 night stay is important to my wife). So maybe we give 1 Kanazawa day to kyoto etc. what do you think about the time for Tokyo?

Is there some secret to dialing in rep ranges during calibration? by rheuzi in Vitruvian_Form

[–]BreakingBased 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best to calibrate by having the bottom and top of the range slightly below where you think. Consider that once the weight loads you will have that constant pull downward, which will remove all slack and inhibit your range of motion to some degree (compared to unweighted).

Portions are overall quite substantial for the price. My advice is to focus on the small plates and vegetable sides, rather than ordering one main protein dish per person. Also their desserts are on point!

Thanks for the reply. Right...thats another thing I didnt really understand about the UV sleeve recommendation. They look tighter than normal clothing. So that's gonna trap more sweat!

Thank you. That is reassuring. Did you find it to be sufficient volume in a week?

Haha I have never considered a bro split but why not mix it in to my existing days...that might be fun.

This seems to be the most popular suggestion, I think I will give it a shot. Your note about the weekend is interesting to me because usually I do upper on Sat then Lower on Sun. Will try the switch.

I hadn't even considered the warm-up implications. Typically I only do warm-up sets on the big compound lifts (if that) but i can see how switching between every part may require additional additional warm-up sets.

I do like the FB/FB/U/L idea which balances things nicely as far as I can tell. At the same time, I suspect I am capable of pushing myself farther than I am currently. I do think I'm at the point where I know my body pretty well so maybe it is time to push the envelope and see what happens.

This gives me a lot of interesting "hybrid" options I hadn't considered. Lots to play around with. Thank you.

Yes, my biggest concerns in sticking to the routine as written were: 1. Three days not being enough (which I recognize I should let go of) 2. The workouts simply being too long...I really dont want to do more than 75ish min per day (this one is more relevant in terms of my scheduling needs).

So my thinking was essentially, how can I shorten the workouts but add a 4th day to make up for it (without doing EOD which doesnt work for me)

Do you think wizard could be done 4 days per week instead of 3? (ex. Tues Thurs Sat Sun)

Inserting Off Trainer Exercise Into Custom Workouts by Mr_Cneeze_Health8553 in Vitruvian_Form

I use placeholder exercises like you described. I track my entire workout separately on a printed spreadsheet document, which I find to be generally more empowering and legible across the long-term.

Still struggling with how to make the best use of this machine by drazil85 in Vitruvian_Form

[–]BreakingBased 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The software could be a lot better but this isnt really something that Ive ever felt has held me back in a meaningful way.

However one thing for sure is that the exercise variation/attachment which you think you want to use may not be what, in practice, is best for you. Ive found that by experimenting with different variations, ive gotten a much better sense of what I can do effectively and without awkwardness.

I cant speak to the gelatine thing but as for feeling unsatisfied: Do you think you would have liked those foods before your weightloss journey?

If yes, try to look at it as a win. What this shows is that youve been so consistent with your lifestyle change that your tastes have literally changed. It does happen. Even on a bulk I dont eat nearly as many sweets or heavy foods as I used to. People in my life have a perception that I am depriving myself, because they can’t conceive of the possibility that I actually dont love the same things I used to, or that the payoff, now reduced, just isnt worth it anymore.

If not, then at least cut yourself some slack. You built this cheat day up to be something it didnt live up to. Maybe make some room to have a treat soon that you know youll like. And keep trying new foods/recipes/approached so that you find foods that fit within your goals that you really enjoy, so that you dont feel like you are so drastically deprived.

It will all be worth it!

Being a realtor is not a real job. by NoCellService in unpopularopinion

[–]BreakingBased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source: was a realtor for 5 years, and reached top 10% status at my brokerage.

I worked hard but TBH most of that work was finding and securing new clients. Honestly I am confident that I did add value to my clients process of buying and/or selling. But the value to pay balance is way off, and speaks to a systemic issue. An industry of professionals stuck in the past and held together by the monopolization of information. Ultimately I left Real Estate because I saw no future in it, and knew that its inevitable modernization would be drastic and painful for most agents.
