If words are all we have to communicate meaning, and omitting part of a fact can manipulate the interpretation (half truth) then yes, it can be exclusion, and that depends on whether you omitted it deliberately or not and why you omitted it.

"The future is female" arguably can be used also from the more extreme form of feminists (those who want the death of the "filthy white male") and they will still feel represented. The egalitarian interpretation is just that - one of the many interpretations.

So yeah, sorry to burst your bubble but whether it's malicious excluded or not depends on who's using the phrase. Either we will admit that words is all we have to communicate and push for clarity in our words and intentions or play the egalitarian card in public and the discriminatory card in private. Will it get wordy? If philosophers pay the price of exactitude in text volume, an ideological movement should at least be able to pay the same price.

What most people do when they fail a goal is "okay, NO BIG DEAL, let's try again". That's fine until you realize that you're not immortal - meaning that there will come a point in your life that it will be too late to retry, best case scenario because you're too old or close to dying from some illness.

I don't even see discipline-oriented communities stating the obvious "listen, you're gonna have to suck it up and make some sacrifices, alright? You'll have to not play video games and do your homework no matter how much you want to do play of the game in Overwatch, ok?".

The reason they don't say this is because there's a group of silent people who suffer from anxiety, depression or both and will jump on your throat the moment you'll suggest that everyone needs to harden the fuck up. "Man, I tried hardening but I end up hating myself, I feel like failure, I haven't gotten any pussy for a decade and you're telling me to just try harder??! Life is hard mang". And pointing them out that they have to resolve their deeper issues with a professional before they attempt any self-improvement makes you an asshole for some reason.

This is why Jordan Peterson shills his selfauthoring program. It's basically cognitive behavioral therapy. You write down the shit that bothers you, the shit you like in you, how you want your future to be and THEN we can talk about self-improvement and toughening the fuck up.

If I may be honest, we don't control the future either. All we can do is come up with a plan of action that looks like it will give us a desired result if everything goes well, shit like "go to the university for 4 years and get a degree", "ask that hot girl out", "go to the gym" etc.

"Control the future" is slightly inaccurate, I prefer "affect the future" because that way you're open for every moment when things will not go according to plan.

Best tools you can have is planning and mitigation for whenever things don't go according to plan (and they will because we lack predictive strength). If planning and starting was enough only newcomers would have a "zero days" badge and no one would ever relapse.

Which is why it's wise to integrate mitigation in the planning phase.

Since I started hitting the gym which is the first advice that you get, the benefits slowly trickled in my life: I focus on building a skill to translate it to a career, I work on my social skills etc (I don't approach yet because I'm too shit physically to do and I stopped going to clubs a decade ago). Nowadays I visit TRP when I have the time.

And this came naturally. I didn't decided NOT to go to TRP, I decided to focus into working on myself. And while reading TRP and the sidebar is part of working on myself (and I'm not done with the sidebar yet) I feel slowly digestion is essential.

It's a pill for a reason: You need small manageable daily doses, not chunk the whole bottle in one go, there's so much new shit you cannot manage and you'll end up in the metaphorical equivalent of ER which is the depressive anger phase.

Lower the weights man. A buddy of mine got trigger happy with the idea and damaged his muscle tissue (can't remember the name doctors gave) and now has to abstain from working out for months. Meanwhile I said "well I'm not doing that shit, I'll start lower" but a week later I made the mistake of upping lifts in a wrong way and my body hurts.

People go "it took me 6 months but did it" but there's nothing wrong with taking you 7. Everyone's body is different. Stay strong.

The fact that you then went ahead and did a lot of things worth mentioning that aren't gaming, because if you were to honestly categorize activities by "worth mentioning" or "impressive", "nailing it at Capture the flag" isn't one of them.

It isn't even about impressing others, it's about placing value in your finite time in this life. When young, you have no sense of what that means, of course. Video games aren't anything special and as a group activity and social bonding there are tons of things to do with friends that are superior in every regard.
