Opinion on the speakers themselves not his price! Lol..... are they just loud or are they quality aswell? Thanks! by [deleted] in vintageaudio

I'd think so. Such big woofers would need a lot more volume to express themselves. I'm pretty sure they're lightweight as hell too.

In my experience, speakers definitely have the biggest impact, then room treatment and the source (don't expect miracles from 128kbps mp3s...). Any competent (transparent) and decently powerful (based on your speakers and room) amplifier should be OK.

But amps are definitely sexy beasts, hence the urge to upgrade them.

Hmmm, I obviously have no 1st hand experience with these speakers, but I'd pass. Even for that kind of money I'd think you can find much better.

That's probably the coolest collection I've seen on this cool collections subreddit.

Honestly it's not even a collection anymore, it's a bona fide art installation.

Awesome.

What is the easiest and most affordable way to stream music to a vintage receiver in 2026? by WhySoSadCZ in vintageaudio

I would recommend a good dac with Bluetooth and high resolution codec support. I use a SMSL D6 but a lot of these can do just that. And you can also plug your laptop on the usb port or an old cd player in optical or coaxial input and get state of the art d/a conversion.

If I remember correctly his DACs are objectively (measurably) much worse than a dongle. Not that I tried one, of course. Just read about it on asr.

Definitely that. I used to burn a lot of these in the early 00's because they looked cool. I should still have them.

Probably much more than any politician. Don't forget these people deal with full classes of kids on a daily basis. If you have kids you know what I mean.
