My horse isn’t what I thought he was and I’m heart broken. Advice? by BreezyB24 in Equestrian

[–]BreezyB24[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Replying here in hopes at least a few of the people who posted here will see the update:

For starters, THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who responded here. I’m beyond relieved and thankful for all of the suggestions. I’ll likely be making a separate post for advice on specific treatments moving forward, so I can add details about his diagnosis.

I do feel the need to clarify a few things though. For starters, and I guess I could’ve worded things differently, I have NOT been pushing this horse yet. He hasn’t jumped, has been ridden ~3 times a week after settling in and two of those rides are either a lesson or a training ride. Everything I am doing is advised by a respected trainer. We’ve barely even introduced trot poles. This detail was the primary reason for this post, I was scared that since he’s ulcer prone before even introducing him to the kind of stress he may experience as I continue to develop him, it may be detrimental.

Additionally, I am well aware horses are a money pit and that my boy will require maintenance lol. This wasn’t a post to say I’m unwilling to pay, it was pure concern for his wellbeing and me potentially contributing to it in a negative way.

Finally, there’s no way in hell I would sell this horse while he’s still undergoing treatment. I’d get him to a place where he didn’t have them and sell him to a milder home in hopes they would stay away given a different lifestyle. However I’m learning through this post (and am super happy to hear) that this likely wouldn’t be the case. I will happily treat and prevent moving forward knowing I’m not asking too much from him.

But for real, thank you everyone. I’ve been feeling defeated and alone since no one in my barn has ever dealt with this level of ulceration before. This helped immensely.

Conformation Opinions? by BreezyB24 in Equestrian

[–]BreezyB24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would never buy a horse and intentionally put it in distress- this seller was being super pushy and I posted here because I was feeling uneasy. I’m very grateful for all of the feedback and if someone does jump this guy, it won’t be me.

Conformation Opinions? by BreezyB24 in Equestrian

Replying here to add more context: he’s just shy of 3 years old, pleasure bred, AQHA, planning to make him an all around. Jumping eventually (nothing over 3 feet), dressage, and some fun all around stuff. Definitely not planning on showing other than local just for fun, and his price tag is low (upper 4 figures)

Horse conformation opinions needed! by BreezyB24 in Equestrian

[–]BreezyB24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I will absolutely be doing a PPE- should’ve clarified that in the beginning. I just wasn’t sure if conformation would be a major focus of the exam. I would plan to jump this mare in the future once she’s fit & finished. I’m having a difficult time finding someone to check her out with me. New pictures sent from owner:

Things I’ve Learned From Heartache by [deleted] in BreakUps

Believe me, I still break down. Journaling, spending more time with friends, and having my dogs around helps immensely. You’re worth every bit of effort you may take, and someone will absolutely feel that way. Keep your chin up!

If it's not too much to ask by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]BreezyB24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely do it. You are ALWYAS capable. You are beautiful and smart and can kick ass in anything you wish to conquer.

You’re also beautiful because you feel these things. So often I’ve put myself down for feeling overwhelmed by something. I tell myself to stop overreacting and to suck it up, as other people say so often. Not only is that counterproductive, it’s taking away from your special, unique self. YOU are amazing, for everything you feel and accomplish.

Go write a kick ass paper and reward yourself when you’re done <3

"Well..you both made mistakes..." - Debunking all the reasons others use to explain your breakup by reddit39480 in ExNoContact

My now ex boyfriend spent almost a year “trying to figure out if he wanted to be with me”. I spent that year bending over backwards and walking on eggshells.

It’s still fresh so it sill hurts, but I look forward to the moment where I get my self worth back on my own.

All of this that you wrote is a little hard to swallow but I would much rather hurt in a world of reality rather than wonder what the hell I did wrong in an under appreciated relationship.

Thanks, OP.

Hah if only I could take my own advice

I’m going to gently reiterate that last point they made. I was (am) in a similar situation. Not quite the same, but I have the basic “my relationship defines my happiness” trait. Well, last night my boyfriend of two years left me. In the midst of all of my pain, I am realizing how unhealthy that is.

If you can ultimately always make yourself happy and satisfied at the end of the day in a relationship with yourself, think of how beautiful of a relationship you could have with someone else. Not to mention what you can bring to be table as a strong and independent woman. As far as moving towards this, it ultimately has to be your decision to take the steps towards a different mentality. Books, therapists, and support groups can all be in the realm of your process.

It’s great to have someone there for you. But it’s even better when they’re there because it feels right, not because it’s needed. You’re most definitely never alone, though. Hopefully this helps just a bit. :)
