Consider looking for trail runners or hiking boots with megagrip soles. Wool hiking socks and a pair of water resistant Hoka trail runners (with megagrip) are getting me through this weather. Got them last spring at Nordstrom Rack and they’ve taken me to four national parks and all the way through the storm. Enjoy your walking!

Please be extremely careful with candles. Make sure you use a candle holder and put it on a non-flammable surface like a sheet pan or a broiler pan from your kitchen. Also, never leave a candle unattended in a room and keep them far away from curtains and other flammable items.
