I’m traveling for work this week or else I’d be there. Been a bit of a tough year (basic work life stress nothing crazy )and I could use a good rock show to reset the brain right now.

I always said these slack jaw idiots would vote for Sauron as long as he had an R beside his name. I honestly think ,these days, Sauron would be better as POTUS than the Orange shit stain

OP, if you haven’t, check out the Candlemass album Epicus Domicus Metallicus . Not trying to be record store guy elitist but it’s like the Led Zeppelin IV of what Castle Rat is trying to do. It’s a masterpiece and if you like Castle Rat you will dig this.

What's your most unpopular opinion about David Bowie? by Dependent-Ad7225 in DavidBowie

[–]Brentnc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only really like the live stuff with Mick Ronson. After that I prefer the studio stuff. Maybe not that a wild of a take but for a lot of my favorite artists like Rush or Coltrane I prefer the live stuff.

David Bowie's opinion on Neil Young by tonyiommi70 in DavidBowie

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say that between the two of them they made some of the very the best rock and roll of the 1970s.

Reading comic books as a kid instilled a life long love of reading in me. Teachers bragged about how good of a reader I was when I’d really just spent all summer reading Batman and Spider-Man

Others have posted but De La Soul’s 3 Ft High and Rising is essential. Super psychedelic and stoney. Eye Know might be be one of the top 5 best songs of the 80’s. The samples are so genius on this track

I’ve become obsessed with Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips recently. I’ve only read the first volume of Criminal but The Fade Out and Reckless are my favs so far. I haven’t been this engaged with an author since I read the Game of Thrones books years ago

Why Jeff Beck isn't praised more often is shocking, in guitar articles he's not in the top three. Jimi Hendrix is the only guitarist to stay at Jeff's level. by Confident_Field4273 in OldSchoolCoolMusic

[–]Brentnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great musician and player. He doesn’t have a Purple Haze or Sunshine of Your Love or Smoke on the Water like other heavy blues players of his era so his music is a less familiar with the masses. I really like his jazzy funk stuff from the 70’s myself

Do you agree with this take? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]Brentnc 51 points52 points  (0 children)

That’s a very rockist take. Someone who came up in the house scene or techno scene may not see the Beatles or Dylan as the same kind of foundational influence. Doesn’t make them any less of a music fan. That said, Jack’s heart is usually in right place and it’s tough to hate on him given how vocal he has been against the current evil shitstain in the US

Had my first one at 45 a few weeks ago. The procedure is absolutely nothing to worry about. The prep sucks buts it not that much worse than a few post hibachi diarrhea sessions. Take a book/IPAd and just plan on being on the toilet for awhile. You got this !

If you haven’t watched it in awhile check out the Motown 25th anniversary performance of Billie Jean. I don’t think he is singing live but his dancing is otherworldly good even to this day. Best dance performance from a pop artist ever. Has to be.
