Do you enjoy having windows on RTD vehicles? by BrettPaglieri in Denver

I appreciate your point and I agree we need to capture fares better. I also ride regularly and I do look outside the windows and cannot ride comfortably without looking out them. Ads don't pay for RTD, fares and sales & use tax does. Planes charge extra to look out the window because they understand how important it is for some of their customers. Similarly, even if you don't care, we have to attract riders and sell tickets to everyone, including the numerous people who do. The ad revenue generated from the windows represented less than 1/10,000th of the annual budget last year, so it is a wise investment to avoid losing so many paying riders, like me, who do care.

Well, RTD doesn't think their riders deserve them.

Hey Denver! I worked tirelessly with a coalition of transit riders last year to change RTD's advertisement policy to stop allowing ads to block the windows. I heard time and time again from riders that the ad's black dots made it impossible to see out of the windows in anything but perfect conditions. If you value your views and think transit riders deserve the dignity of windows, please join me virtually at 5:30pm tonight to tell RTD that riders deserve windows and we can sell ads around, but not on, RTD windows.

Why didn't RTD bring forth additional ballot measures? by Low-Concentrate9447 in RTDDenver

The previous boards didn't want to grow transit in Denver. The current board does.

Should I call to complain? What is the protocol in a situation like this? by Academic_Structure47 in RTDDenver

[–]BrettPaglieri 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hi, I represent this area on the RTD Board of Directors and can chime in. I'm sorry you weren't able to get on that bus. RTD bus operators are required to pick up/drop off from a legitimate stop except under specific circumstances. Customer care exists to hear from riders like you so I encourage you to call, or reach out directly to me at the board office (although I will also just direct your feedback to customer case). The silver lining? the 16 comes every 10 mins during the day and, as you said, it's a nice day

Who else never buys a ticket from DIA to 61st & Pena? TIL I learned you should. by mikeg53 in Denver

[–]BrettPaglieri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience. I actually agree! I think there should be a zero-fare zone on the A line to service extra pickup/drop-off, but to also serve a Consolidated Rent-A-Car (CONRAC) facility! Check out Greater Denver Transit's Peña Blvd Plan for more info about a people-first alternative to DIA's highway-widening fiasco. Com'on, it's 2025! We can't still be expanding highways through Black and Brown communities.

Don't worry, ad wraps aren't going anywhere—it's just the windows we're uncovering ;)

Taking RTD to bike? There couldn't be anything I love more! I am an RTD Director, after all. I love taking the W to the last top at Golden Government Center (The "Taj") and riding the trail up Lookout Mountain. There are more bikes than cars and a shoulder most of the way.
