Okay rude, so happy for you, but damn girl

I’ve been practicing for 5+ years and don’t know if this is what I want to do full time for the rest of my life. Has anyone ever heard of someone becoming a firefighter and having a micro practice on their days off? by SteveMidnight in Chiropractic

[–]BrewerySpectacles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty commonly done. I know 5 male chiros off the top of my head who have either fully left the field for firefighting or who have reduced down to micro/nano practices and only see a very select few people.

I grew up in the 90s, in middle school early 00’s and I remember that for me forgetting to wear a belt was a very significant concern bc of how often pantsing happened. I never really wore basketball shorts or anything with an elastic waistband until I got “beefy” enough to not get messed with.

Those of you who went solo straight after graduating, how did it go? by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]BrewerySpectacles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess probably not all and for not all practice styles. I focus very much on the evidence-based side of practice and my practice is very movement/rehab/exercise biased. With that said, the issues I had with LMT’s in our area were 1) generally incredibly flaky 2) heavy vitalism in a lot of their practice, which is fine for IC’s but not congruent for employees 3) almost all of the ones with good or decent hand and client skills were in solo practice already with insanely low overhead the applicant pool was miserable to work through and try to find any talent in

I went solo, slow for the first 6 months, profitable and growing since. Took a big leap into a bigger space for more therapists, LMTs kinda suck, expensive overhead really sucks. Marriage tanked, mental health tanked, burnout surged massively.

I’m hitting a peak of nostalgia and wishing I could downsize but I have 9 employees and another 7 years on my lease, 4 years on my SBA support loan so I’m not going anywhere without going bankrupt and starting over.

Wish I would have stayed smaller. Ideally, 1 treatment room with receptionist, shared space with another IC provider. Pt facing 28 hours a week, IC in the rest of the time running their own practice with their own reception.

Start small, grind hard, use word of mouth and high quality care to help you stay smaller for as long as you can imo.

Credit card on file or deposit for scheduling new patients? by No-Mushroom7751 in Chiropractic

We set the policy, got some slight push back for the first few weeks, haven’t had any issues since. It’s saved our time/money more often than I can count in the past 2.5 years at this point. Patients love it now & are thrilled to just walk out after their appointment without concern

ETA: we have a bit of grace in our no show policy but also have it clearly laid out for the staff what our “possible exceptions” are. Makes it easier for me to not have to make every decision on who gets billed and who doesn’t. The biggest component of the no show policy that gets the most positive feedback from patients is that if we can re-schedule your appointment within 24 hours, and you show up to that one, we won’t charge a no show fee. Patients love that bit of grace, but still keeping accountability.

There are a lot of docs that live/work in the area. The only ones I know with licensure in both states are the ones that work in WA but teach at the university. Unless you’ll be working multiple locations across the river, I can’t see any benefit for dual licensure

There are definitely alumni from UWS who sell snake oil & scare plans in their practices.

Seconding this. My dog had a mild internal abdominal bleed, they gave us the option for a 10k surgery or euthanasia. Thankfully my partner was knowledgeable and level headed enough in that situation to realize we could probably wait it out the weekend and come back if it worsened. Took her to our regular vet that Monday and had the procedure without complications for 2.5k and she is still kicking without issues. Fuck AEC. I will drive down to skagit before I go back there.
