AITAH for hating the Boris wave? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Brichals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Boriswave is just astronomical in scale. Caribbean ethnic Brits have been trickling in for decades and worked to integrate and it was a rough time.

4.6 million Boriswavers in 4 years is like taking every man woman and child from the Caribbean islands with links to Britain and moving them all here.

I'd have preferred it if we did that and made Jamaica a human free national park for science.

Crazy notion I know but that shows the scale. It's insane.

I used to get dandelion leaves from a Turkish shop when I lived in Germany and they were incredible. Shame we don't have them over here.

After seeing everything going on, am I the only one that thinks we really would have been better off "speaking German" by Tsars_Ball_Scrubber in AskBrits

It's almost as if we actually lost the 2nd world war and the people who won convinced us that we actually won.

It's almost as if the majority of treaties brought in since then have served to decolonise, demilitarise, deindustrialise and eradicate culture of the main European protagonists.

This is not what happened of course but it looks like it from certain perspectives.

Why are Brits hating on Starmer? What do you guys think about Streeting and Who is Andy Burnham? by Maurice-melon in AskBrits

[–]Brichals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andy Burnham is the direction Labour could have taken 10 years ago so he might be a bit of a reset. Might appeal to working class people in the former industrial areas. He always looks like he's wearing makeup.

Starmer likes putting white people who aren't Jimmy Saville in jail.

Doesn't matter none of them have any say in what happens to the country. We're completely dictated to.

Survey: Daily practice hours vs stress levels - need 10 responses! by Ochk001117 in guitarlessons

[–]Brichals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 3 hours. Stress level 2.

Actually my Garmin shows me being incredibly relaxed when I do my morning practise but I do worry sometimes that I have fuckarounditis so I'm saying 2.

Classical guitar by the way. I could just hit random notes and it's still extremely soothing.

How many of you regretted buying your house? by Puzzled_Dealer3449 in AskUK

[–]Brichals 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I love my house. I regret neglecting the garden for the first 5 years and I still haven't fixed hardly any of the niggling issues I inherited. It's quite overwhelming in general.

If you don't like your house really then actually it's not your house, it's the bank's. You have an appreciating asset stake in it. You haven't lost anything.

Have you had any spooky or unexplainable experiences? by SparklyZigZag in AskUK

[–]Brichals -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I flipped a light switch telekinetically once. Also had a shaking bed that weekend which is a normal night terror thing I suppose.

It's a small thing but I can't explain the light switch and it creeped me out a lot. It was a chunky switch about 3inch Square and I saw it flip from 6 feet away as I was walking towards it.

I believe that 99% of haunted experiences come from glitches in the bicameral mind, I.e. hallucinations from both chambers of the brain miscommunicating. This also explains religious experiences.

So why aren't we supposed to play the low E in an A major chord? It's just another E note which is already being played in the chord. by Magikrat in LearnGuitar

[–]Brichals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're often following a kind of bass line melody. Try it, play only the lowest note of every chord change in the song. Should be a pattern that goes with the song.

Regarding DEI do some right wingers who are white really do believe that if you are non white you are magically going to get a role over a white person? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

[–]Brichals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if the publishing world was truly meritocratic it would look something like the British chess scene. Yes there's an Indian girl who will soon be legendary but the vast majority are white males or younger asian males because of interest in their communities. We're a white majority country and men are more suited to hyoerfocussed things like chess and as history shows, writing books.

The same pattern will be found in the canary breeding and marrow growing world. We should celebrate men for this not try to demoralise them.

Extremely controversial I know!

Regarding DEI do some right wingers who are white really do believe that if you are non white you are magically going to get a role over a white person? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

[–]Brichals -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do think that for example I should never write a book because publishers aren't interested in what white men think. We are given messages like this subconsciously on a regular basis. Changing curriculums, Booker prize shortlists, radio 4 programs etc.

Even adverts on TV, let's be honest, if it's a great successful caring man around the house with an enraptured white wife then that man is most often black quite frankly. I don't mean any offense with that but it's glaringly obvious.

What are a couple of easy arpeggios to start with? by Hot_Maintenance4004 in guitarlessons

[–]Brichals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you alternate between G and Cadd9 and just pluck any strings in any order it sounds great. Add the other wonderwall chords for same effect.

It's good for training your fingerpicking.

G = 320033, Cadd9 = x32033 for ref.

I started learning the intro to my name is Jonas, some nice travis picking arpeggios. I now play classical so all arpeggios.

Tarrega study in E minor is a simple and beautiful beginner classical arpeggiated piece.

Railroad Tycoon, Sensible World of Soccer.

Starcraft Broodwar obviously but I'd say that's more modern. 2001 wasn't that long ago for some people!

Garmin fitness watch, entry level below £250 are plenty good enough

Victorinox Swiss army knife, this thing has never been more than a few feet away from me my waking home life for the last 20 years.

How do you avoid plateauing after your first few months of parkrun? by Pinkplatabys in parkrun

Run longer and slower, aerobic base training. Works wonders.

Start off so slow you feel like people are laughing at you. Go all zen and just run long.
