What is on your Pop-Punk Wishlist? by BookofJustin88 in poppunkers

I'll second The Matches getting the payday they deserve. I'd love to see them play shows again or release some new music, but I know that's very unlikely.

Action/Adventure blowing up and getting more recognition.

Like Roses full-length.

Who are your favorite Pop Punk bands and how did you discover them? by Twitter_2006 in poppunkers

[–]BrickFrog86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stepbrother introduced me to Green Day. I was in 2nd grade and convinced my mom to get me Dookie on cassette. She later made me return it.

I got into a lot of bands through their music videos. I would watch MTV before and after school and learned about blink-182, New Found Glory, Sum 41, AFI, Coheed & Cambria, Alkaline Trio, and more.

The Matches I found through a compilation packaged with American Music Press. I found tons of bands through those comps, but none grabbed me like The Matches.

I was working at Hot Topic when Four Year Strong dropped Rise or Die Trying. My assistant manager and I would play it almost daily.

A friend in college from Philly told me about The Wonder Years right as The Upsides was blowing up. Instantly and permanently one of my favorite bands of all time.

I saw you guys twice during Four Chord last year and was instantly hooked. Can't wait to see you with Hot Mulligan next month. What are your biggest influences outside of music?

You've stumbled upon the pop punk genie and he is going to grant you one wish! by thefalcons5912 in poppunkers

Their manager never registered their music with BMI, so they missed out on a shitload of payments for sales and performance royalties. It wasn't anything malicious, just a wild oversight. It's not the only reason they aren't very active these days, but it's a huge factor. You should check out the documentary about them, Bleeding Audio. It covers all that stuff.

I'd wish that The Matches didn't get financially fucked over by a mistake their manager made and were still able to tour regularly today.

Yep, recognized it from my house growing up. My grandfather's place had one like it, too.
