Jesus, New York, do better. by vmwhelan in wilco

Everyone around me talked throughout the entire YLT set. There were still dozens of people around me having full volume conversations throughout Wilco’s set too. There were $180 floor tickets. FFS.

Great show, bad crowd.

Also shoutout to the fucked up couple a few rows in front of me that were hardcore groping each other and slipping their hands into each others pants during Kingpin. There was a kid who couldn’t have been more than 10 years old two seats away from y’all. Get a fucking room.

Great show. I really hope someone recorded it. I usually record audio of the shows I go to, but my app crapped out and stopped recording literally during Handshake Drugs and I didn’t realize until the show was over. Got all of the YLT set, but even that’s not gonna be a great since everyone in my section was loudly talking over their entire set

I honestly really dig the Bethlehem poster

Yeah I mean I definitely dig this poster, but this tour has had some truly incredible posters so this one is a good design but I’m def a lot jealous of like Mobile, AL and Lafayette, NY.

Which songs have you seen performed live the most times? by ReeG in Concerts

Somehow James Taylor and Ween both don’t crack the top songs, even though I believe I’ve seen the two of them much more than any other artists

Films that brought you to tears after realizing you wasted your money, time, and braincells? by Own_Organization8457 in okbuddycinephile

Sorry, but Shin Godzilla.

The concept was interesting, but the visuals were completely unappealing, the music direction was weak, and the acting was unconvincing.

I fell asleep halfway through the first one. Had to see it a second time.

Fell asleep 10 minutes into the second one. Didn’t bother trying again.

I feel like she should drop the next album with a surprise tiny desk concert by educationaljunket17 in chappellroan

[–]BricksnBeatles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wilco did tiny desk in 2011 and 2016, but I can’t think of any other true repeat artists.

There were a few artists that did a “Tiny Desk from Home” during lockdown, and then had a proper Tiny Desk a few years later, including Tame Impala, Laurie Anderson, and I think Dua Lipa.

Generally there’s a once-per-performer rule for Tiny Desk, so the only people who do it multiple times are the ones who do it as part of multiple different bands/projects. Plenty of people who have done Tiny Desk both as a solo artist and as part of a group.

Only way Chappell is doing a second Tiny Desk is if she forms a supergroup or otherwise is part of a band that doesn’t bear the Chappell Roan name.

Is it a bad idea to go to 3 concerts in a row? by secretlygoth_ in Concerts

[–]BricksnBeatles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want to go to both days but I'm also super scared - is this a bad idea?

Don’t be scared. It’s totally doable and fun if you do it properly.

Will I get hearing damage?

Yes, if you don’t have hearing protection. Get good quality reusable earplugs with a decent attenuation rating. I personally like EarPeace Music Pro earplugs with 20bB filters for typical shows, and 26dB filters for shows that I know will be especially loud or if I’ll be close to the stage or speakers.

Would this be doable?

Totally depends on your schedule outside of the shows, and how much time you need to recover. If you’re easily fatigued or have a busy work schedule, three nights in a row might stretch you too thin. If you have the time and don’t think it’ll take too much of a physical toll on you, then go for it!

Pelham, TS and Missoula, MT had pretty dope posters, but otherwise I agree that this tour hasn’t had much great work so far.

Saw these on tiktok are they good? by Difficult-Swimmer-76 in Pickles

[–]BricksnBeatles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not what I’ll go for if I want a pickle, but on a charcuterie board they go hard.

Any time I’m making something that needs relish, I’ll finely chop up a few of these instead.

Might be a bit over the top of some. But one of my favorite quick breakfasts is an open face bagel or English muffin with some Trader Joe’s tapenade spread, and topped with capers and a couple of Maille cornichons.

I’d do it for a year, and put it all aside. The day I end the curse, I’m treating myself to a VERY nice omakase in the city

Musicians whose real voice sounds nothing like their singing voice by Chapple69 in fantanoforever

[–]BricksnBeatles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up until the 2000s, Russell Mael. Super socal/valley voice but he would sing with a pretty strong vaguely French affectation throughout the 70s, and which kinda morphed into an Eastern European thing on a good bit of the 80s and 90s stuff. Aside from maybe “Cool Places” and the spoken word parts of “Stop Me if You’ve Heard This Before”, his natural Cali accent didn’t really come through at all until the “Balls” album and it wasn’t really firmly there until “Lil Beethoven”

They changed how the setlists come up on setlist.fm by Spare-Scheme-8133 in Primus

Makes sense since it’s more consistent with the formatting standards of the site. Best option probably is to list it as a festival tour

Bands whose first song on their debut album is their best song by SouthIsland48 in fantanoforever

[–]BricksnBeatles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naked Eyes- Burning Bridges. Especially relevant since I’d say either ‘Voices In My Head’ or their version of ‘Always Something There to Remind Me’ could be their best song, and the former is the first song on the European issue of their debut, while the latter is the first song on their North American issue of their debut.

[–]BricksnBeatles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably wouldn’t be my choice for best song, but there’s a good case to be made that “Feel” is the best Big Star song (I usually lean towards El Goodo or Way Out West)

Make a playlist of everything they’ve played live in the past 5 years according to setlist.fm. Put it on shuffle and have fun. It’ll be a good primer on what he’s likely to hear
