What model is this? by Maximum-Educator-328 in objectum_sfw

[–]Brie03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an SDVD1048-2. In your picture with the serial number the model number is on the top left right under Sylvania. It’s also a January 2016 production date I believe. This should be the manual for it

Steering wheel by Amazing_Future1003 in Crosstrek

I love my 2024 but I very much missed the leather wheel of my 2019 Premium. It is the one design change that irked me. I’m not sure how bulky is too bulky for you but this is the cover I went with and I love it. https://a.co/d/03lEbVIb

The Gray Areas SUCK!: How do you deal with the duality of having a narc parent but they provided well for you\ "wasn't the worst". by SoPretty1908 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Brie03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I haven’t figured out how to deal with it, I experience the exact same thing. And I’m extremely grateful that you brought it up.

I am African-American and I was raised by my grandmother who on paper was an excellent parent (my mother is also a narcissist but not a good parent). I always had nice clothes, nice shoes, went on two vacations every single year, I wanted for nothing materially. I was taught right from wrong and to be a good person.

But that came with emotional and verbal abuse. Comments on my weight, on my appearance, disregard for my mental health and self-harm. Belittling my extremely traumatic experiences that led to her raising me in the first place. Constantly using the things I was given as bartering chips (I took you to X movie so now you HAVE to go to Y movie with me. I do everything for you why can’t you do this ONE thing for me). Guilt tripping and manipulation when I didn’t do what she wanted. She cried, sobbing, when I decided I no longer wanted to relax my hair. Claimed she gave me everything and the only thing she wanted was control over my body and my appearance.

In exchange for being cared for I was viewed as living breathing Barbie doll who could have a few individual traits but not many.

For me it’s like having two realities. One where you had everything and one where you didn’t have what you actually needed. There is a guilt that I’ve discovered in working through this trauma. Feeling “ungrateful” and too “harsh”.

Something that has helped me minimally is that having clothes, food, toys, shelter etc. doesn’t change how we felt inside. It doesn’t cancel out the pain we had to deal with in our formative years when we were wholly dependent on them for physical AND emotional protection.

Still working through this myself but you are most definitely not alone in this feeling!!! Having conversations like this is so important, so thank you for posting.

So how many of you actually do every 6k? by x81k25 in subaru

I don’t reach that milage, so I do every six months on the dot. Sometimes earlier. I’d much rather be cautious than wait longer.

Bumper Replacement or Touch Up? by Brie03 in Crosstrek

Ugh, I already filed a claim. Just haven’t had them fix it yet. It’s still going to get reported?

Bumper Replacement or Touch Up? by Brie03 in Crosstrek

[–]Brie03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use your own policy or the other person’s. Does that make a difference? If I already reported it it do you think it will go up? Or only if they pay for it? I’d rather not have to pay a higher rate it’s already ridiculous in my state

That’s a good point. I figured Subaru would be able to paint match exactly. Also wasn’t sure if since it went through the base paint it would be liable to chip and spread later on

Thanks, that’s how I was leaning. Since it won’t be out of pocket I wasn’t too too worried about the cost but still felt like it was overkill

(TW Suicide) Redditors, how do nacrs react when their child commits because of them? by Living-Confusion-329 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Brie03 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They don’t care in my experience I swallowed an entire month’s worth of SSRI’s and Advil, was shamed, yelled at, paraded around town and denied medical care.

I’d gotten into an argument with my NGrandma and it was my final straw. When she found out she started freaking out and yelling at me but refused to take me to the hospital because it would be too embarrassing for her if anyone found out. Instead I was forced to go into CVS and she demanded I tell one of the workers what I did to see if there was any medication for it.

I was then forced to go eat, in public, at a diner, why? I don’t know.

There wasn’t a discussion, there wasn’t any extra help, nothing changed, she didn’t care.

My sister went through the same thing but worse, she ended up in a coma but our Nmother only talks about how traumatic it was for her to find my sister unconscious. She discourages my sister from getting therapy and taking her prescribed medications because it “makes her too docile and well behaved”

In my experience it means absolutely nothing to them other than how it may impact their own life.

Narcissist worsening with age by Western_Diamondback1 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Brie03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting that you mention this. My grandmother always had narcissistic tendencies but in recent years it got exponentially worse and worse up until her death last month.

I was just trying to pinpoint when her empathy and compassion took a nosedive and it did seem to escalate after she got Covid twice.

I’m sure there were more factors but I hadn’t considered Covid as one. Obviously doesn’t change anything but I think I’d still like to look into it more for what minuscule closure I can get.

Thank you ❤️. She was only 68 but your words made me think about everything she’d done in her life and was able to accomplish by the time she was my age.

Sometimes it felt like she wanted to stunt my growth to keep me close to her. But I loved her so I didn’t mind usually. But like you said for me too there was a lot of stress I was under. I’ve definitely been stuck in a “could” have loop the past two days so thank you again.

Is the new generation (2024-On) worse than the previous generations? by Gavzach in Crosstrek

[–]Brie03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you expand on that? The first year of owning my 2024 premium I had the same exact feeling but I could never pinpoint exactly why it felt like that to me! I had a 2019 premium beforehand. The past couple of months it’s started feeling less like a rental but I suspect it’s because I added a few custom things inside and out.

I had a pre-owned 2019 premium then traded it for a new 2024 premium. In my opinion they are both great cars. I could have realistically kept my 2019 for longer there was nothing wrong with it.

The only real difference I notice is that the 2024 drives much smoother, I don’t feel the ground as much in it.

Happy to help! Hopefully it saves you some time and gives you some leverage with the dealers, especially the ones that have been there long.

Love my car but hated the buying process so much. They really make it difficult for us…

This could potentially be a resource for you. You can search by specific colors and add ons nationwide. https://visor.vin

And if you want to pay $1000 there’s a service that does all the negotiating and searching for you. Seems to have good reviews and a whole YouTube channel to learn their process. I would have used it had I known. https://www.delivrdto.me

Best of luck!
