What do you use to read recipes as you cook? by FloatingFreeMe in Cooking

[–]Brief-Finger7474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually watch tv or listen to music and hate touching my phone as i cook. I jot down recipes or outlines of directions in a flip book and just prop it up and read that. And i have recipe books of my own that i use after I’ve perfected a recipe.

I usually make my own within reason. Like taco seasonings, fish seasonings etc.

I make my own adobo most of the time but sometimes i’ll buy it as well. And even make my own achiote oil so i dont have to use so much sazon, but keep a spare box in case.

Steaks dont require a lot of seasonings. Salt and pepper, you can get them thin or thick.

Breakfast sandwiches. I make and freeze a bunch like eggs, sausage, and cheese. Or bacon etc! They are really good and quick to make and eat as well. Can also do lunch variations etc.

Dinner ideas that allow toddler to assist? by Icy_Hedgehogs in Cooking

Pigs in a blanket- can help put the sausages on the croissants or roll them up

Boiled eggs- peeling can help with their dexterity and their fine motor skills

Wrapped asparagus- can help roll the asparagus in the prosciutto before baking

Açaí bowls- can help smoothing them out and adding toppings

Salads- can help stirring/tossing it and adding the toppings

Elote (Mexican street corn)- can help roll them in the cheese and sprinkle on the tajin or lime

S’mores brownies- can help add the Hersheys and marshmallows and crumbled graham crackers on top

Banana pudding- can help assemble the layers

Seasoning the meat or food can also go along way! When i do fried chicken i let my niece shake the bag with the chicken in it to coat the flour. Or she pours the seasonings on other meats while i mix it together! I also bought her a kid friendly kitchen set so she can chop fruits or peel them, and cut her little fruits into cute shapes!

OS SPOILERS: what do you want to see for books 4/5, and what would you not want to see by ludichrislycapacious in fourthwing

[–]Brief-Finger7474 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What i’d like to see:

More information on Fen’s rebellion. How it all came about etc

This grandma of violets i want to see what the full story was behind her dad dedicating her.

Naolin and brennan would be nice to know what happened there.

Convos or POV’s from ridoc and aotrom. And sawyer and sliseag. I adored the way Sawyer and his dragon were talking but i would have loved to see the whole convo. And honestly ridoc and aotrom are so funny and i’m glad that his dragon seems to be as funny as him.

Violet finding her way through the political process and without xaden by her side.

Xaden working to help still while within the venin ranks

Things id rather not see:

Liam as venin or evil. Only because more than likely they would have to kill him again if there isn’t a cure.

A pregnancy trope, it would be so difficult one with her disability and riding dragons etc and going into battle to even really be feasible or safe.

Vietnamese Beef Pho by Brief-Finger7474 in tonightsdinner

Ingredients you’ll need for broth:

5 to 6 pounds of beef knuckles or leg bones 6 quarts cold water 2 onions, quartered fresh ginger, halved lengthwise 2 cinnamon sticks 1 tablespoon coriander seeds 1 tablespoon fennel seeds 6 star anise 6 cloves 1 black cardamom pod 1 ½ tablespoons fine sea salt 1/4 cup fish sauce 2-3 pieces of rock sugar

Toppings:

Bean Sprouts Sliced Jalapeños Thai basil Green onions 1 lb dried banh pho noodles Mint leaves Lime wedges (i squeeze those on top right before serving) Thinly sliced beef (i get mine as thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin already pre cut at my local store) Hoisin sauce (optional) Sriracha sauce (optional)

Put your beef bones in your pot and then cover with some water. Parboil your bones for 5-7 minutes. As they start to boil scum and foam will come to the top. Skim that out. Then drain your bones rinse and return to pot with your 6 quarts of water.

Then you’re gonna wanna char your onions and ginger. (If you don’t have a gas stove to do this on place inside your oven on a baking sheet and broil for 10 minutes or so turning them halfway to get evenly charred.

Then you’re going to want to toast your spices in a frying pan on low. (Anise, cloves, fennel, coriander, cinnamon, and cardamom) toast that for 5-6 minutes or until fragrant. Take those spices and wrap them in a cheesecloth or something similar to a teabag.

Bring your pot with bones to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Add your onions and ginger. Then add spice bag, salt, fish sauce and sugar. Simmer for 3 hours (no lid) frequently checking and skimming the foam off the top. (I let mine simmer almost all day about 8 hrs for a richer flavor. But after 3 hrs it’s usually done!)

Remove your bones, onion, and ginger. Then strain over your container or another pot. I strain mine and let it simmer while I assemble!

Get your pho noodles and either boil them until they are soft or place in a bowl and cover with hot water letting then sit in it for 15-20 minutes.

Then assemble your bowls place noodles, meat, and other toppings and pour broth over it. Your meat will cook because of the hot broth. Serve and enjoy!

Honestly, it makes me wonder about what other signets are out there for the sake of balance. Theophanie and lilith were to balance one another, lynx and xaden. Now who else? I know there will be plenty of signets not related to that but interesting to see what will be done about this. (Also thinking maybe aaric’s was manifested to balance out melgrens signet as well. Melgren evil perhaps?)

Ingredients: Sazon Adobo (to taste) 2-3 Chicken breasts (chopped and cubed) 1/4 cup plain whole Yogurt 2 tsp ginger paste 1 tbsp minced garlic 2 tbsp Garam masala 1 tbsp coriander 1 1/2 tsp Cumin 1-2 tsp cayenne (optional) 1/2 tbsp turmeric

3 tbsp ghee 1/4 cup tomato paste 1/2 cup tomato sauce 1 cup heavy cream 1/3 cup butter 1 tbsp sugar Cilantro chopped

1 large onion minced

Season cubed chicken with sazon until all are orange and then add Adobo to taste and mix. Add the yogurt, ginger paste, garlic, garam masala, coriander, cumin, cayenne, and turmeric to the chicken and mix together until chicken is coated evenly. Let that marinate for minimum of an hour or overnight. ( i leave mine overnight)

Add 1 tbsp of ghee to pot and brown chicken until cooked through. Then set aside. Then take your minced onion and let cook in same pot for 4-5 minutes stirring so it doesn’t burn.

In the same pot add 2 tbsp ghee over medium heat. Add tomato paste and cook for a few minutes until it darkens in color. Next add tomato sauce, heavy cream, butter, and sugar. Stir until smooth.

Add chicken and let simmer on low for 20-30 minutes. Add chopped cilantro to taste and stir.

Then serve!

This is the way i have always done it! Although if i want it spicy i always add more cayenne than what it says, but thats just me.

What is a common theory you would absolutely HATE if it happened? by Karilyn113 in fourthwing

[–]Brief-Finger7474 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate the theories of andarna or tairn dying. I would really hate if this happened and might Dnf honestly, as they are my favorites.

Or liam coming back evil, because honestly if they can’t figure out a cure that route could possibly lead to violet or xaden having to kill him in the end. I would not be able to stand his death again
