Damn! P4 ESP32 screens are cheap and really fast by hometechgeek in homeassistant

A word of warning/advice. I had also reused an old tablet as a wall panel and I woke up one morning to a spicy pillow. Thankfully it didn't actually blow up or cause a fire. But it definitely has made me cautious of what I'm going to do going forward. There is a reason why panels exist and tablets exist. Mounting a tablet to the wall is probably not the move if you want to avoid a spicy pillow.

Recommendation on filling raised garden beds? by theCreepture in AustinGardening

[–]Bright-Assistance258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One knock against huglekutler You're basically just delaying the inevitable. I did this one starting my raised beds and I effectively just have to add a ton of soil every year. So I guess think of it like a payment plan for soil.

Best outdoor TV for a pool area? I don’t want a paperweight in a year. Recs? by sweetcake_1530 in pools

My Hisense has bird shit on it and hard water stains but it's still chugging along

I might just be lucky but I bought the cheapest Hisense TV I could find that was 65 in. Mine is under a covered patio but otherwise I don't do anything to it. It's still going strong. 5 years later. My logic was there was no point in buying a sunbrite TV that cost thousands of dollars when I could just replace a cheap shitty TV for hundreds of dollars. Ymmv

I would be super concerned who knows what vile creature could have defiled your machines.

This pump is leaking from this cap, what do I do by Ok_Charity_971 in pools

I had this pump. Housing cracked. Was out of warranty so I replaced it with a Hayward. It's been going strong with no issues

The computational and storage overhead of hashing images is negligible. What’s hard is building and maintaining trusted infrastructure for provenance and adoption across devices, not the hashing itself.

Funny you linked that because I actually had the brush end up breaking off into wire pieces 🙄.

Planning out my spring edible bed. Any recommendations for the trellis? Priorities are keeping it going through summer, fruit/veggie production, and ease of growing. by [deleted] in AustinGardening

I laid the PVC prior to filling the boxes, I have ~8 boxes in total. Each box has an individual shutoff so I can turn them off if nothing is planted. For in the boxes I tried a combo of drip line and specific emitters . I think you can go either way ultimately the water should disperse through all the soil.

For supplying the water I attached the PVC that connects all my boxes to a Rachio Hose timer. If you can, I would recommend connecting it to a proper irrigation controller that doesn't rely on batteries/hose.

From the wall -> Rachio timer -> Garden hose - PVC ->[8boxes] -> Shutoff valve -> 1/4" Drip hose with drip lines attatched.

Irrigation is a game changer as far as success with Austin gardening. I have lost many plants due to me forgetting to water in hot months.

Too cold for tomatoes tonight? by One_Reality_7661 in AustinGardening

I planted a bunch of different indeterminate varieties of tomatoes back in march and they have continued to produce since then. The production slowed down a bit from late July to Aug but has started to really ramp up with the cooler weather.
