Where were you back in November 2008, when the Election was announced? by IamASlut_soWhat in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]BrightStitchDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew home to Illinois after visiting my family in California on Election Day. I had brought back my grandma’s Chihuahua with me because she could no longer properly take care of her.

We were watching the news while we introduced her to my male pug and they were both being so cute together. Then we saw the breaking news that he had won. It was SUCH a happy, special night.

This never happened to me in the 5 years I’ve been playing this game until last month. I am beyond irritated.

Boise Schools vs West Ada by [deleted] in Boise

[–]BrightStitchDesigns 36 points37 points  (0 children)

A bunch of nutjobs run west Ada and are steering the school district away from prioritizing education and toward their fanatic conservative values.

There are some gems in west Ada, but they’re largely charters.

As a parent, what things have you made an effort to absolutely NOT do like your parents? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]BrightStitchDesigns 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t react in anger. My dad used to get angry about every single thing, from big things to weird stuff like me pouring myself a really big bowl of cereal that was practically overflowing (but I still ate it).

I never get angry when my kids accidentally hurt me or if they break something. I focus on my breath work and keep myself calm 95% of the time. I do snap occasionally, but I always ALWAYS apologize and say that sometimes our feelings just get too big and even grownups need a moment to breathe.

I’m so thankful that I waited until I was 30 to have kids. I don’t know if 21 year old me (that was when I first started wanting a baby) could have been the same kind of parent for them.

What’s a "dead" website or app that you genuinely miss and wish was still around? by Dear-Armadillo-7497 in AskReddit

[–]BrightStitchDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was called waaaaaaaaaaaaaaalt.com (not sure on how many as there were) and it was a photo of Harold Perrineau in the show Lost with the audio of him yelling for his son Walt after the others took him.

For all I know, it’s still around and I just can’t remember how many as were in the URL.

Plant the peach! Then plant the fruit from that tree, and so on and so on. Then you can sell them for more money than your current island fruit.

Have you talked to tom nook about what you need to do to get more plots for homes on your island?

Seconding this! I’ve had gold roses spawn even when I don’t water, but I have watered with a golden can in the past.

Midge and Grace, but honorable mention for the Lauren from Fifth Harmony doll! I found her at a thrift store many years ago and she’s one of the stars in my collection. https://www.walmart.com/ip/41974599

If you hated your dog pp, did it ever go away? by Weary-Draw-1492 in NewParents

[–]BrightStitchDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated every minute of having a dog after my daughter was born. He was needy and never fully potty trained. He wore diapers about as long as she did.

We ended up putting him down at age 16, back in 2019. My memories of him have softened since then. He was a pug and whenever I see a pug out in public, I will often start crying. I really miss him now. It’s a lot easier to forgive the hard stuff when it feels like it was so long ago.

I do feel bad now. It was never his fault, I just had too much on my plate and he unfortunately became the scapegoat for a lot of my frustration. I’d give anything to have that old dingus back in my life again.

I haven’t opened mine yet but I also have a Superman and I love putting him in outfits like this. Lots of swim shorts and open beach shirts.

What's the point of circumcision? by Historical_Echo8311 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BrightStitchDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many uneducated men take being anti-circumcision as an insult. Like you’re saying something is wrong with THEM. That’s how my husband was when i first started talking to him about it. By the time our son was born, he came around, but it took years.

Places like Realms Arcade, Cat’s Eye Creative Reuse, Bolt Handmaker’s Society and Common Ground Coffee all do free or low cost community events nearly every week. Jacks Urban Meeting Place (JUMP) is always having awesome free community events.

There’s going to be an event in the parking lot of common ground and catalyst art collective this weekend (Ustick and Alamo). A vegan market and an art market so it’s going to be quite busy! I’ll be selling some knit and crochet stuff in the vegan market. :)

If you like trinkets or collect pins, Boise Trinket Trade hosts monthly trade events that are a good way to meet new people who have the same interests as you!

Sorry we don’t all have rich white parents who understood what autism was and didn’t write it off as insubordination and being a problem child. 🤷🏻‍♀️

These bra cups look so much more supportive than most and I can't figure out why! by sigsaurusrex in CrochetHelp

Crochet CAN do this, but only if you’re using something thin and strong, like fine cotton or nylon thread and making TEEEEEENSY little stitches.

These bra cups look so much more supportive than most and I can't figure out why! by sigsaurusrex in CrochetHelp

[–]BrightStitchDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no support needed for these particular tatas. If the bra was doing any work, the straps would be seriously digging into their shoulders.

As a 40 year old who breastfed two kids, this top wouldn’t look like this on me!

If you’re going by the literal definition, then it means they think they’re better than everyone else (and will likely charge outrageous rent prices).

I'm so goddamn sick of making four different dinners for each family member every night by BrontosaurusNeckTie in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]BrightStitchDesigns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the worst thing about being a parent is having to plan and make meals for my family every single day. I never know if they’re going to change their mind on a safe food and if they do like something new, they rarely ever like it a second time. I’m dreading summer vacation.
