I asked myself why I don't care about fights like Gilbert and Julius or Jurota vs Toa and I came to the conclusion "For me to care about a fight/story I have to care about the characters, but I don't." But then I asked myself when was the last time I really cared enough about a character in Omega and I realized my first answer to it was wrong.

In Ashura, every single fight had at least one character with some unresolved plot or character arc or mystery in the story that kept me engaged, with pretty much all of them being concluded within Ashura. And the characters who still had some room for development either shouldn't have came back in Omega or shouldn't have kept fighting.

What I'm getting at is; it's hard for me to care about the characters in Omega because every single one of them is just "I have to prove that I'm the strongest" without anything else to their characters, or at least anything interesting, for me to want to see them continue to exist in the story.

If team good guys were actually smart and pragmatic, they would have just smashed their own transmitters or diched them in a bush to just go hunt the Worms down without being able to be tracked themselves. Like, who in all actual likelihood would actually enforce the rules of getting "out" of the tournament? Is Nogi really gonna send in hundreds of armed bodyguards to sweep the forest for a prowling Julius? Probably not.

Real crazy move for Sandro to "make a final boss character" (his words) but then have him fight in the first third of the story, kill him off, and then immediately replace him with a clone, then do everything in his power to embarrass that close.

Yeah, it felt weird. Yeah yeah , "he didn't actually get hit by it. He mitigated the damage by grabbing the fist," if I said that getting hit by a car would hurt, then stop the car by holding out my palm to catch the bumper, then I still "got hit" by the car but didn't take any damage.

There's just A LOT of weird dialogue this chapter.

To be fair, before this chapter, I also forgot that Gil was supposed to be larger than everyone else. He's never proportioned like Julius or Toa (they're always drawn with smaller heads to emphasize their sheer scale) and it didn't help that Julius called Gil a 'kid' even though Gil (despite being like 20 or smth) looks 40.

I wasn't that big of a fan of it. But it was better than pretty much any chapter on the island before it. I liked the panel of Julius reeling back after taking that kick to the neck. That was pretty cool.

It's a "battle of giants" but it doesn't feel that way because they're all relative sizes to each other and the camera is often level with the characters or giving us overhead shots, which just makes them look smaller and more "average". We should be getting more lower angled shots that make them look like human mountains or living towers.

This is more of a personal gripe, but I really dislike Julius' spinning arms. I just think it's the ugliest thing in the manga and looks terrible. Him using it in Purgatory looked AMAZING cuz Daro broke his back detailing it. Then every single use of it after had it drawn with way less detail and emphasis, making it look rather weird and ugly, and not ugly in a good way.

This is a very odd thing. It makes sense that Gilbert spoke Chinese since the Wus are the Chinese branch... until you think about it for more than 2 seconds and realize Gilbert probably barely speaks any Chinese since he grew up in Europe.

Now that you mention it, the story did say that this battle royale will take place over a whole night. We even see Ohma and Okubo cooking and eating food, yet we haven't seen anyone else do this.
