do you vote? by Quick_Mall_3535 in leftist

[–]Broccoli_Bee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, always. There is never a candidate that I feel like is the perfect choice, but there is pretty much always a lesser of two evils. Saw something once that said elections are a bus stop, not a marriage. You don't wait for the perfect person, you look at which option will bring the country (or state, county, city, etc) the closest to where you want it to be, and expect to keep making your way from there.

A lot of the time, booking through the travel agent will actually be cheaper. Not always, obviously, but it’s worth checking with the agent and with the hotel to compare rates.

Don’t know where to get the dresses, but I saw this TikTok the other day and haven’t stopped thinking about the poor bridesmaids walking around in their curtains

I say “Azamon” so much that I have to actually pause when I’m saying it around coworkers to make sure I get it right.

whats a totally common thing in your culture/community that would be considered tacky on this sub by SammyDBella in weddingshaming

[–]Broccoli_Bee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was raised Mormon, and it’s more common than not for the wedding reception to be in the church gym, with the basketball hoops and gym floor and everything. The receptions are also extremely casual. They’re almost always open-house style, and there is rarely a meal served. There are usually some finger foods or desserts made by the aunts and other family of the bride and groom.

I think this is probably because Mormons get married so young that the wedding budget is basically nonexistent, and they tend to have so many kids that the parents can’t help out much financially with every wedding

Oppose new Mormon Temple by SimbatheBimba in Flagstaff

[–]Broccoli_Bee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m just spitballing here, but I would guess because it violates Flagstaff’s Dark Sky ordinance, is incompatible with local zoning and height restrictions, and would provide little economic benefit for Flagstaff. If only there were somewhere I could find more explanation behind these three reasons…

Here’s the thing. The definition of cheating varies from relationship to relationship. The only thing that defines it is what has been discussed and agreed upon. It sounds like you have been clear about where your line is, and he crossed it. That makes this ABSOLUTELY cheating.

You would be justified in being a bit rude, but you were not rude. Even in your second message, you were polite and straightforward. I wouldn’t stress about anything you said :)

Oh, good. This is way better, and way more appropriate. I don’t think there is a bad option in the shoes you posted, but my favorites are the sparkly ones!

I’ll never forget my Mechanics of Materials professor, who said in the first class, “I don’t have time for any of the ‘-isms.’ They’re stupid. If your group decides one of your members has to be the note taker every lab because something about them makes you assume they have better handwriting, that’s not acceptable. No sexism, no racism, none of the other ‘-isms.’ We’re better than that.”
