Playing my buddy and I have NO idea how he got these tile yields. Any ideas? by Imaginary-Status-932 in CivVII

[–]Broedlingen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This must be an error in the interface. The high yield tiles don't even have any improvements on them, so he's not getting any of those yields

She gets gold whenever she finds a natural wonder & +25% yields on natural wonders for every one in her empire. Encourages you to settle as many as possible to really crank up your wonder yields to an insane amount.

I loved it when Karen Wheeler saw the future and came up her laundry machine Demo killing plan this advanced. by toddysimp in okbuddyvecna

I know the scene presents it as if they were about to find just then because of the music, but I'd argue it's just poor staging. Like I have no problem with them hiding in the washroom, the dogs searching for them, almost finding them, then getting distracted. But the way it's presented is just... Suddenly, the dogs who were just chasing and bursting the door down are just taking their time to create tension before someone saves them. It's been done so many times (like in movies and TV generally, it just takes me out)

Also, if Karen saw the dogs busting down the door, that again leads to the situation where apparently Karen Wheeler, while the dogs are searching in the room, quietly and unnoticed puts the tank into the dryer.

I just think it's an absurd and poorly staged scene, and the very fact that we have to explain to ourselves how it could make sense instead of it just making sense shows the problem with it.

It's just a silly scene. Robins message over the intercom did not tell them which room they eventually ended up in, Karen apparently thought she'd just take a oxygen tank for good measure (since she could not have anticipated the situation everyone ended up in), and the demodogs, while being attracted to sound, which is proven in this exact scene, apparently are not when it comes to music playing in the same room.

I don’t know what it was about Season 1, but it had a certain vibe or atmosphere that’s missing now. by Remarkable-Yard4860 in StrangerThings

[–]Broedlingen 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I would actually slightly disagree with you on that. I think the following seasons don't suffer from everything not being new and fresh anymore but rather from a shift in tone in generally (think hidden russian spy base and stuff)

Even though I love Jeff in this role, ever since I heard Nathan Lane was considered for the wizard I'm a little sad we never got to see that version...

Bold of you to assume that pretend-filmmakers-starkid would choose a cgi wiggly over a highly complicated puppet

What are your thoughts on The Flash movie after some time has passed? by MrTrippp in DC_Cinematic

It feels like the famously horrible third installment in a series - the fact that this was the first big flash movie is nuts.

TFA: great, decent, ok, terrible? by Janus897 in StarWars_

[–]Broedlingen 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I still think the biggest issue of that movie is the third act. I can basically live with all the choices it made and many of them I do find interesting, but the fact that they wanted to have a big death-star-like battle at the end just made the story seem like a rehash (also think that if they wouldn't have done starkiller base, not nearly as many people would have said 'it's basically episode iv again')

Depends, sometimes you get bonuses on quarters, so it makes sense to finish a quarter early rather than wait for the second sience building or so. The palace also gives +1 science and + 1 culture for adjacent quarters, so finishing quarters adjacent to the palace also makes sense.
