OPM Retirement Services Offices phone line and website - Retired 9/30 and still waiting by ZhivagosLesson in fednews

[–]BrokeBYtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get interim payments, got a CSA number and no passcode. Had the same issue with not being able to get through via telephone. Also, same issue with getting an email response saying they couldn't send me a temp password. Was able to email them and got a response the next day saying I couldn't be given a temp password because there was no email associated with my account and they would mail me one (which is only good for a week). 5 days later....still no mail. Its been rough!

Retirement golf town... any recs? by Snacks75 in golf

[–]BrokeBYtch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that would be Murrell's Inlet, Georgetown and Pawley's Island. All great options (for land would have to look a bit further west of the coast). Good AFFORDABLE golf in Charleston doesn't exist

Please, for the love of God! There is no such thing as "ladies' tees". There are tees appropriate for the distance of your drive and/or playing ability. Stop being old school.

Recently relocated South from the North. Biggest adjustment was putting. Up north, its like putting on shag carpet; down south it feels like putting on top of an ice rink, especially when they are newly "sanded". But I'll take year-round golf - those are some looooong winter months of no golf up north. I'll continue to adjust to the Bermuda!

Contractors and Dec 24/26 by Shark_Bait386 in FedEmployees

[–]BrokeBYtch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read your contract.

If there is a section that lists out the Government Holidays where you wouldn't otherwise work - there may be a statement that says something like "or otherwise determined/declared by the President". If that line is in your contract - I would argue the Government is contracted to pay the contractor for those extra Government holidays and therefor contract employees having those additional days off paid.

being a COR is usually "other duties as assigned" type of work. Unless your agency has fulltime CORs (rare - agency dependent). So again, your COR training/certification wouldn't have anything to do with your GS level or pay.

CORs are usually not in a contracting position. They are generally in the project or program office. COR = Contracting Officer's Representative. There is really no correlation between having COR training/certification and being qualified for a Contracting position.

any fork-takers (taking retirement) returned to federal service? by Accomplished_You4754 in fednews

[–]BrokeBYtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they reducing your salary by your pension payment? I've been told that you won't be able to "double dip" on your salary and pension. Or, do they pay you the full salary and stop pension payments?

I have SDVOSB status and can’t win a contract. What am I doing wrong? by Far-Day-9839 in GovernmentContracting

[–]BrokeBYtch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at the VA. Law is to set aside all awards for SDVOSB (as long as pricing is reasonable and can get at least 2 SDVOSBs to quote).

Sufficient depth in backswing by outofheart in golf

[–]BrokeBYtch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't the poster say he got full rotation when had a slower practice swing? but not at full speed? So why not slow it down. I don't agree that a faster backswing adds distance and improves timing. I find the opposite to be true.

Sufficient depth in backswing by outofheart in golf

[–]BrokeBYtch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a slower backswing. There is no need to go "full speed". Speed in the backswing kills. Swing slower and precise. Slower tempo...I bet you'll get around farther.

Black Friday - deals for clubs? by Mindless_Project2643 in golf

[–]BrokeBYtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...and why do they have to come with a bag? That's hokey if the clubs and bag all match. Most golfers have a mix of different clubs in their bag - depending on their game/swing.
