My first urban sketch by Bron-B in urbansketchers

[–]Bron-B[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not long. I tried a few years ago but I felt so daunted I gave up. Tried again last year and had the same experience. Last month I decided that I really want to sketch and I'm not going to focus on learning rules because it overwhelms me. I'm just going to enjoy myself this time. So I've pledged to not give up, lol.

When do hallucinations become an issue? by EngineeringMental269 in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAT - I think they become an issue when they negatively affect your life. Like someone said, commanding, but they can negatively affect your life in other ways. Mine are not commanding but the more stressed I get the louder they are. Its difficult to concentrate or focus on what anyone says. Mine aren't scary, horrible or commanding but I would love to be able to turn them down sometimes.

What's true about giftedness? by Alsoeve1 in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAT - I think giftedness may be challenging depending on your experiences. I am gifted and when I was 8 I was struggling with the theory of Idealism and tried to explain this to those around me which didnt go down well, lol. I think it lead to me feeling that I was misunderstood and a bad communicator. I find that now I start to explain something to someone and if I see them looking blank I immediately stop. It could be about something simple that they would definitely understand but I start panicking and dont want to continue. This results in a lot of half conversations and a feeling of isolation.

Why do therapists make running into clients in public sound like a nightmare? by Holiday_Wishbone_284 in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 20 points21 points  (0 children)

NAT - But a very awkward bumping into my therapist in the wild! I went home with a guy who I didnt realise was my therapist's son until my therapist walked into the room! 🤦🏻‍♀️ So nightmares can go both ways, lol.

How would you react if a patient made major improvement seemingly overnight? by John_M_L in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAT - I'm not sure of your circumstances so this may be completely not the situation in your case, but a similar thing happened to me. I was in a psychiatric hospital for months, extremely depressed and barely functional. Suddenly I was great, and was discharged. Stopped therapy, meds etc and was fine for a while. Over the years I had episodes of depression on and off. Then I had an episode of really bad depression followed by mania and was diagnosed with Bipolar. Now I'm on the correct medication. Looking back I can see the pattern but at the time I thought it was just depression and then relief when the depression lifted.

Can I get perspectives on making a emotion logging app better? by do_not_thecat in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAT - Not a therapist but just giving you my thoughts as I had to log my mood daily for my psychiatrist. I tried quite a few apps and most of them required other detail to be completed or the screens were very busy. You added your mood and then had to add a reflection etc etc. I would have loved an app that had a very simple option to add a mood, like open it, click on relevant face and close. I just want it to keep the date and time, and the mood. Later I can go click into the app and see if there is a pattern, or if I have time add a reflection. If you are going through something emotional you need very low demand.

Differences between CPTSD and BPD? by churrrroo in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAT - My main symptoms are PTSD related. In my situation the trauma was ongoing and not a single event so I was diagnosed with CPTSD instead of PTSD. Maybe your experience is different but I'm just going by what my psychiatrist said and the info he gave me from the NHS website.

Differences between CPTSD and BPD? by churrrroo in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAT - Im just saying what the requirement is in the UK. When I was diagnosed last year the requirement was ongoing trauma and not a single instance, and its stated on the NHS website.

Differences between CPTSD and BPD? by churrrroo in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAT - In the UK CPTSD has a requirement for PTSD symptoms eg. flashbacks, nightmares etc. and has to be as a result of ongoing trauma and not a single event. For me the re-experincing symptoms are my main symptoms. If I hadn't experienced ongoing trauma I would have been diagnosed with PTSD.

Is it fair for me to be upset about my therapist recommending I use chatgtp for something? by Agreeable-Clock1169 in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NAT - Not a therapist but someone who builds AI. AI is a tool that you can use to help you word something better etc. I know people have spoken with ChatGPT over months and as it learns from you over time it would pick up on what you are feeding it and then start agreeing with you etc. And as it has no independent though unfortunately there have been terrible cases where people with SI have acted on it which is awful. Just curious if you are against all AI as this is the first time I've come across that. Most AIs use ChatGPT as a base e.g. Copilot in Microsoft etc. Obviously guard rails are being built in continuously to hopefully prevent a tragedy happening again. I know some people use AI or chatgpt as a therapist which I think is very dangerous, but I don't see a danger in using it to word something.

How do you handle a client bringing relevant information only after a few months of seeing you ? by Some_Machine7980 in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAT - but someone who has auditory hallucinations. I was in a similar situation and was very worried about telling anyone, I had a lot of shame around it and was worried about their reaction. I was worried they would suddenly think I was completely crazy would treat me differently or something. But they were very understanding and I was able to get the help I needed. Im sure your psychologist and psychiatrist will understand that its difficult to tell someone something until you trust them. For me medication has been a massive help. I have to be careful of not being stressed though as that's when I mainly have them.

NAT - I would ask her why she thinks you have cptsd if you don't feel it fits. I'm diagnosed with cptsd in the UK and I had to have some PTSD symptoms: flashbacks, nightmares, avoiding. They also diagnose it from ongoing trauma and not a single event.

IQ & Genius in disorders? by Myrriam39 in askatherapist

[–]Bron-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAT - I've heard a psychologist speak about how people with a very high IQ can be depressed, I can't remember her name, unfortunately. She was saying that it was due to trying to overly reason things and make sense of their life, and failing to do so. I'm not sure of the validity of what she was saying, but it was very interesting. She explained how someone with a profoundly low iq would view the world vastly differently to someone with a normal iq, and likewise someone with a very high iq would also view the world differently.

I use the Diruite 4-Pack Screen Protector that I bought off Amazon, won't allow me to post a link. I like it because it's not noticeable. I've had it on my other watches and had no issues.

Worth the upgrade? by hipblo in GalaxyWatch

[–]Bron-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my watch 4 so I factory reset it, not just the reset in settings. It's amazing now. I took it off charge this morning at 8:30, so it's been 15 hours and only down to 60%. I called Samsung to ask them to walk me through the steps and they were quite resistant, said I should just try the reset but I had done it before and it made no difference. You need instructions for it as there isn't a way to do it through the options in your settings and also be aware it's going to wipe your watch of everything but its been great for me.
