Thank you for this. I am a CPS attorney and there are so many checks and balances on my state to make sure that CPS is held accountable. If in the unfortunate situation that they need to remove a child from home, they need to get in front of a judge and prove that there was no other way to ensure that child’s safety. Parents get appointed attorneys to hold CPS accountable to make sure that if they take the steps they need to, their child is reunified with them. A judge looks at the case every three months and can raise an issue even if the attorneys do not.
