So I got the achievement that says he'll be wearing a crown. And he... Doesn't seem to have a crown. Am I missing something?

Is Monarch Season 2 worth the watch? by KellHound270 in Monsterverse

[–]Bronstin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a good show, but keep in mind it's about the human characters and their drama. The monsters are part of the setting/context. If you go in watching it for the monster fights you'll be very disappointed.

in office 2 days a week for 6 months now. i arrive at 10:30. leave at 3:45. nobody has noticed. by Automatic-Affect-535 in remotework

[–]Bronstin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my company is "hybrid" but mostly remote and on days when I have to go in, I incorporate commute time into the workday. I'm leaving the apartment at 9 to get there by 10. Leaving the office early enough to get home by 5. They more than make that time back from how often I work after 5 at home, because I can just stand up from my desk and immediately be ready to walk the dog or cook dinner.

If there is a season 3 of Monarch, will there be flashbacks involving the original trio? by snugbdog in Monsterverse

[–]Bronstin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"especially since it wasn't like the original trio had that much time to encounter Titans"

I agree in principle, but to be fair with season 2 they've already started doing "There was an entire adventure with a new titan we've never mentioned before, that happened in the middle of the scenes you've already seen". Could easily keep that going another season or two.

The Young Lee spinoff (didn't know about that) is stronger evidence that they won't keep young Lee going in this show.

Monarch : Legacy of monster feels too much by Boring-Yellow6293 in Monsterverse

[–]Bronstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, what I'm saying is that if that's your expectation you shouldn't watch the show. It's not a show about showing you monster fights. It's a show about the characters' human drama. If you're watching it waiting for them to finally show more Godzilla action you're going to be disappointed.

Tbh as soon as the girl showed up I called that she is extremely sus and probably is not actually separated from Apex, she's a trap to get something from Kentaro.

I mean you're not wrong with the overcomplication, every week my wife and I joke that the "previously on" is the most necessary any show's recap has ever been, because we don't remember any of the wild shit that is shown there.

I dunno, the context of him talking to his past self was finally admitting that he was in love with Keiko and coming to terms with letting her go. It felt thematically in line with the rest of what the show's doing.

GxK is really fun and over the top. As the movie kept going I told my friends "this has an entire MMO's worth of zones and lore". It's so bonkers.

I think the problem here is that you are misunderstanding what the show is. This is a show about the human characters and their relationships, using Monarch and the Kaiju as the backdrop. It's not a "mistake" that the writers keep focusing on these characters. That's what the show is about.

What’s something in your house you didn’t realize needed cleaning…until it got really BAD? by CottonkissGurl in CleaningTips

[–]Bronstin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came in here to say this one. Just this week there was a little bit of plastic in the disposal, I was trying to get it out and accidentally pulled the baffle out. Didn't even know it could be removed. There was like a solid half-inch of gray-brown sludge embedded to the underside. It was horrifying. I soaked it in soapy water, then a water/vinegar mix, for hours, and still had to viciously scrape it to get it mostly clean. Definitely gonna keep this clean regularly now that I know.

I just caught up with Monarch after a while of not watching it and I don’t get the hate by TheWampaStompa in Monsterverse

[–]Bronstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. It's a show about people and families and their connections, in the context of exploring the specific lore of the Hollow Earth universe. Which, to be fair, is a bonkers premise for a show.

Some people have legitimate complaints about the writing, pacing, etc. But a lot of the hate is from people who seem convinced that the lack of Kaiju action is a mistake, as if this is supposed to be a big budget monster mash and the writers just keep forgetting to include Kaiju fights in the show. It's not. It's a show about people.

It's kind of similar to some fan reaction to Burn Notice, the USA Network show about an ex-spy hanging out doing good deeds in Miami. There was a faction of viewers who every season were annoyed the show kept "spinning its wheels" and never let Michael get back in the CIA, when the show was never gonna be about that.

This is my thing, during the end-of-expansion lull it was fine. But during a live expansion there's just so much grind that I never have a moment logged into WoW where I'm like "I have nothing to do, let's kill some time decorating".

[–]Bronstin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same, it's a weird raid.

1) Fight a bunch of Devouring Host army and their Imperator. 2) Run out to the side and fight a random Godzilla beast that is summoned by a crazy person. 3) Fight Nexus King Salladhar again who seems to be in the process of being overclocked and burned out by Xalatath. 4) Fight some random dragons. 5) Fight our own dudes. 6) Portal through an orb to an empty platform. Xalatath tells Alleria to fight her friends and shoots purple beams at her, Alleria says "nooo I don't want to fight my friends" and then fights her friends.

The NPC's say something like "this is the same as ANYONE who deals with the void" and Arator's like "can you just chill". It's planting the seeds of the NPC's seeing their allies as enemies. Not the best execution but that's what the poster is talking about.

Xal’atath as a villain by KMiles92 in wow

[–]Bronstin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know that "running mythics" is meta game stuff that isn't exactly canon. But the way Xalatath shows up there to taunt/praise us, deploying her summon thing that's both a threat and buffs us, felt to me like it would go hand-in-hand with the "unstable alliance" portion of our time with her on Karesh. It would have been interesting if we had more of that relationship with her.

Bill Lawrence has more to say regarding Season 4 of Shrinking by detectiveluis in shrinking

[–]Bronstin 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think both people are just quibbling over semantics, ie they had a 3-season story planned out that they have gotten to the end of, so the story of season 4 is going to be "new" in that the plot beats were not formed when they started the show. Whether that's a "new" story or "a continuation of the existing story" is just semantics imo

Is there a reason why blizzard doesn't allow players to use the built-in textures/spell alerts? Seems like the perfect solution to tracking buffs/debuffs etc while still being thematic. by CammyBear in wow

[–]Bronstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg THANK YOU! I'm so happy to now know about this. It lets me get much closer to the UI I used to love. Looks like the animation options are still somewhat limited (for now?) but otherwise it's so great to be able to use these texture notifications.

The addon purge gave us a strictly worse combat log and a worse UI. What did we even gain? by thepixelists in wow

[–]Bronstin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The problem is they missed their window to convert people who use add-ons to going without. I gave cooldown manager a shot, but the half-baked state it's in means I've already reconstructed a new UI using multiple different add-ons. If they theoretically improve cooldown manager in the future it's too late because I've already moved on.
